There was a pic of Myung earlier too, so everyone but the drummer is accounted for.
They should post a picture of like eight guys behind a drum set. It would be a madhouse.

LOL the photo looks near enough identical to the previous one of JP  :lol

Pretty much the same spot, same angle and same pose!!! Hilarious! :lol

Also, 7-string FTW! :metal

It's in NY. I assume the one they've used for the last two albums? Looks like the same wood theme, but can't remember what it's called.

fadetoblackdude7

avatar studios? idk, it looks a little different to me. but w/e lol

Only difference being that in the second one, JP's let his hair down, and also James LaBrie is picking his nose in the background.

FretMuppet

I guess it is safe to say that the riffs are indeed, flying.

I love that even the music stand in the background hasn't moved.

What are you talking about? I was clearly tilted.

Nah. In the first picture, index finger is on maybe the 5th string? Middle and ring appear to not be fretting, ring is on maybe the third or fourth string.

In the second picture, everything seems to be up on the 7th and 6th strings.

Nah. Just looked very closely. I'm a fuck and have nothing better to do right now. Fuck it.

It also seems one pic has a 6 string and the other has a 7 string. Either way it's very exciting.  :tup

yea that is 100% Avatar. I'm actually recording my album there this Saturday and Sunday -- maybe i'll see them over there

TheMadgician

Consider it to not only be recording, but to be a recon mission. We're counting on  you. Please don't make your mother and I any more disappointed in you than we already are.

JP's latest signature model is darn sexy! i've never really been a fan of his guitars, but dayummm!...
Hopefully JP can do something new and interesting with the 7 string, although my guess is that this will be for the new dark eternal night type song, or the track with the nightmare to remember vibe if you will.
Also Myung is back on a 6-string bass (according to one of Rudess' twitter pics). I don't think he's recorded with one of those for a while, although i'm probably wrong.

FretMuppet

I remember JP once said in an interview last month that they already know how they want the album to sound and which direction to go in. I think JP will have lots of differently-tuned guitars like in BC&SL, he seemed to like that :coolio

Wow. Talking bout long time no see. Welcome back!

Love those two pictures and how similar they are to each other.

darkshade

dont worry guys. It's a new era for DT, so the 7-string will be used on the only non-heavy track on the album

the 8 string however.......  ;)

ddtonfire

JP seven string songs:

Caught in a Web
The Mirror
Lie
A Change of Seasons
New Millennium
Just Let Me Breathe
Acid Rain
The Dance of Eternity
The Glass Prison
This Dying Soul
Jaws of Life
Tunnel Vision
The Dark Eternal Night
Repentance
The Shattered Fortress
Raw Dog

I'd say these distinguished songs are varied enough that we can expect a kick-ass seven string track.

You mean like Repentance?  ;)

It would be awesome if he did some 8-string stuff, though he should probably use the Axe-Fx for his tones rather than his Mesa's for that guitar. They seem much more capable for the low tones.

Hey, Raw Dawg has some cool guitar parts in it. Pity the song, overall, isn't that great.

Thanks for the list ddt, that kind of stuff is interesting to me but I would never know it unless a musical person told me. :lol

:lol Yeah, me too.  But to be fair, he was pointing out the *variety* in all those songs, which is a valid point:

Although I'm not sure I will "expect" a kick-ass track, but I'll certainly hope for one.
