Doesn't necessarily have to be anything new for it to be exciting to hear JP talk about the new album.  I'd rather be pleasantly surprised when hearing the album after a long period of little info than to be hyped up by constant details months in advance and get let down. i.e. Diablo III (not that I'm expecting to be let down by the game though).

This.  So, at least JP has been about a month in the studio.

Except JP's exact Tweet says: "Our first month in the studio has been tremendous! I am so psyched about how the songs are turning out so far."

Our... so, it's got to be at LEAST JP and one other member of DT. But for all we know, it could have been JP, JMX and the new drummer (as JR was still in China, then at NAMM).

What's he gonna say? 
"Yea I am feeling kinda melancholy about our progress so far....Myung keeps farting in the rehearsal space and I am so tired of eating chinese take out every day."

I also think the "our" is misleading.  That might just be JP, JMX, CJS, and the engineers.

James: "It might shift the dynamic as far as the involvement.  There may be a bit more involvement from (bassist) John Myung.  Basically, (keyboardist) Jordan and John (Petrrucci) are the main contributors to the music, so a lot of that is going to remain the same, but there might be some more involvement from John Myung and myself, ya know?  We'll just have to get in there and start feelin' things out.  This is a whole new chapter for us or a whole new dynamic, as you put it, for us to be going into.  If anything, I think it will be overwhelmingly positive, very exciting and something different.  It's going to be very different and a new experience for all of us.  I think it's going to bring up a lot of things that might not have otherwise been noticed or known.  There's a certain potential that it brings and that's why I do my solo albums, ya know?  My inspiration is that I get to reveal who James LaBrie is outside of being the singer for Dream Theater and who I am as a writer and Producer and a singer.  It will be interesting to see how this unfolds within the studio."


Am I reading too much into it or is it weird that he doesn't mention the new drummer at all?

Not mentionning the drummer ain't got' a' thin' on' thee'. I mean, I'm more excited by the involvement in the + side for Mr. Bass and Mr. Singalong than anything if any! Good news are raining up in this bitch, no lying there. :tup

That interview is clearly from before they went into the studio, so it doesn't really tell us anything. It's nice to read though, hopefully he was right about there being more involvement from him and JM.

But yeah, the thing I'm the most excited about is more involvement from JMX and JLB. Just the fact that they're in the studio during the writing process this time is exciting.

Another great pic. I'll take one of these per week and I'll be very happy. I undrestand that there's issues regarding announceing the drummer, but these pics really help hold me over. Great to see James there.
