Since I am new to the Iphone game (still using my broken droid until the Iphone5 comes out). Assuming they announce it on the 15th, when do you guys think that means it will actually be released?

All signs point to Sept 21.

That is very cool, thank you. I look forward to using a phone for the first time in a year that doesn't have a totally broken screen.

I don't really like the idea of the next iPhone being called iPhone 5. It's the sixth iPhone, so that name doesn't really make sense. Anyway, it's going to be pretty interesting to see what it's going to be like. I'm most likely not going update as I currently have the iPhone 4S, but I'm not going to let it spoil my excitement. Being a fanboy is a lot of fun.  :D

We still don't know the name yet. They might just change it to iPhone like they did with iPad.

I hope they drop the word "phone" all together. Call it the "iSmart", "iHand", "iDevice", or something along those lines. The phone feature is the least used function on my DroidX.

LOL... sorry guys!:

https://www.techspot.com/news/50053-chinese-company-patents-iphone-5-design-may-sue-apple.html

I saw this earlier this morning. I doubt anything is going to come from it.

Yeah, that won't hold up even if they do try anything. First of all, Apple have managed to bully much bigger companies into submission.
And more importantly, Apple should be able to easily prove that this company infringed on previous Apple designs, and that this company stole the design.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

But isn't that the point of getting the patent? If this design was different enough to deserve a newly issued patent, and they patented it before Apple, isn't it technically their design?

I don't believe so. I don't know how different the law works in China, but just because you managed to get a patent first, doesn't mean you've automatically got the law on your side, especially when you're dealing with a company as big as Apple that can easily prove it's a derivation of their existing patented designs, and stolen from designs they were working on.
Getting a patent and enforcing a patent are different things, so I doubt this will hold up, and I bet Apple's lawyers will steamroll them if at all possible.

A patent is supposed to go to the company that invented a technology, not the one who patented it first. Apple should have plenty of documentation showing that it had these designs well before the other company patented it, thus making them the true inventors.

Anyone know if there are any rumored updates to Apple TV coming next week? I want to get one, but would wait if a new version is coming out.

They updated it pretty recently with 1080p and a dual processor. But the rumor is nothing new is coming out for a while because negotiations with the broadcast companies have stalled.

The only way I am buying this phone is if the battery life is significantly better. I'm talking Droid Razr Maxx status.

Though I'm a little late to the party, I just started watching an info feed from the presentation. No big surprises so far unless I missed something.

Nope, nothing outside the rumor mill. Good to see the hardware has been upgraded significantly (camera, A6 Processor, speaker, etc).

It pisses me off that there is never any surprises anymore. I hope next time around, Apple purposely makes a completely bogus but working device and intentionally leaks it.

Well when was the last time an upgrade to a produce was a huge surprise? Usually the huge deals are when they announce a new product.

The only iPhone I've owned was the first generation. After experiencing 4G LTE on my HTC Thunderbolt, I will probably pick this up to get the same speeds without the awful battery life. I won't be getting it until December though; not eligible for upgrade until then.

That's basically the only feature I'm interested in, the LTE. Even though there's nothing revolutionary, that's what I was waiting for. So now I'll upgrade and go back to my old carrier.

EDIT: Foo Fightersss....Do they usually have musical guests at this kind of thing? Seems like they're trying to make up for the lack of excitement in the presentation.
