agree with all this. it's not really country but i like it enough!

Couple of comments...The new Rage is overall enjoyable. Probably a bit better than what I heard from their recent records. The "symphonic" portion of it doesn't have much of that, really. Not sure how much I'll go back to it, honestly, but there are a few glimpses of the band I love...

The Lord Goblin is a cool record. Tim's name drop of Byron-era Uriah Heep is definitely appropriate. This record, at times, answers the question "what would Uriah Heep sound like with blast beats?", which works better than one would expect

I'll revisit, for sure.

The Tad Morose record is so good. An underrated band in my book. And Rapture...well...love them. "Gallows" is the best Brave Murder Day-era Katatonia song that is not on Brave Murder Day

A Mended Rhyme is a good one to start. It’s the first with Urban Breed (great vocals, btw) and it’s kinda in between their more proggy beginnings and the more classic metal direction they took later on. I have a soft spot for their second album, Sender of Thoughts, too. I always liked how they had a bit of epic doom flavor in their sound.

You could certainly do that, but her albums tend to be extremely different from each other. If you don't count her collaboration with Converge or soundtrack work on X, her previous "proper" album, Birth of Violence, is more on the folky/gothic country side, for example. Pain Is Beauty is the most sonically similar to her current one, if you want to go in that direction. Abyss has some parallels as well. Everything else is in very different genres.

2024 release that I'm finding really...interesting. I'd say it's a mix of Arch Era Fates Warning, Zero Hour, and a metalized version of 2112/Hemispheres Era Rush.
