I thought I've heard this track before somewhere but I clearly haven't (or maybe I'm getting old and forgot). This song is actually a great representation of what is now JP's modern playing and by extension modern DT, hell even the intro could be used on the next DT epic. The playing is stellar as always and I think my only complaint here would be that it feels a bit disjointed near the later half when the shredding part comes in. That's really the only thing that keeps it from earning a 5.

I'm glad I sent song longer than 2 minutes bc I don't think there's anything I could've send that's better than 3.5/5.
For alternate take round, I guess I'll find a live version of something since there are many live renditions I like more than original studio recordings.

I hear ya ... it's hard when covers aren't allowed this round.  Like, one of the most famous (classic rock) alternate takes would be Joe Cocker doing With A Little Help From My Friends.  But alas, it's a cover.

This was easy to get through because of the song lengths, which makes me wonder how I'm going to get through the long song round . Anyway, onto the results!

Maybe you need to call an audible, and shorten the max length?  Seriously, even if the average is in the 20 minute range, that's gonna be about 5.5 hours of music.  Methinks your eyes were bigger than your ears!  lol

Well you can send alternate takes of songs I've heard before too. So if you see a song I've ranked on RYM but you know the band did an acoustic version, or did an extended jam (ala hollow years from Live at Budokan) you can send that. it's also open to songs I haven't heard, I'll most likely be checking out the original versions too at some point.

Hey, that's not bad! I can't recommend The Queen Is Dead highly enough. It's got the best qualities of PPPLMGWIW (jeez, I suppose not everything should be an acronym), and got em in spades, but the songs are obviously a bit more developed. When I was considering whether I might skip the theme, the other song I considered sending was "There is a Light That Never Goes Out." Obviously with the bonus point in play, that song would've had to score perfectly just to match, so I'm glad I didn't send it, but I'd wager you'd give it at least a 4.5

That's actually not that far off, bud.  Wait until you see what I actually sent, and it's probably that bad or worse.  (For the record, I was debating sending the '88 remake of "Hush" that Deep Purple did on the Nobody's Perfect live record. Obviously that was an alternate version of the first big hit back in '68 which was a cover of a tune by Joe South.)
