A week from this coming Saturday will be my 10 year anniversary with my current employer. Yesterday, my boss gave me my certificate of recognition along with the info to choose my anniversary gift. For my 5 year anniversary, I got a blue ray player. This time, I'm debating between:
- A drone. Fun, but I have a feeling I'll use it a small handful of times and then it'll sit around gathering dust.
- A new suitcase. The rolling duffel bag that has been my primary suitcase for non-business travel for nearly 20 years is shedding the interior plastic lining. Not fun but actually fills a need.
- An Amazon Fire HD tablet. When I started with the company, I won an IPad Mini in a drawing at the 2013 holiday party. I got a lot of use out of it until it stopped turning on. I thought about buying a new one, but I don't really have a need for it. When I fly, it'd be nice to watch movies and TV shows on a screen bigger than my phone.
There are a few kitchen gadgets I also considered (Instant Pot, electric cast iron grill), but we pretty much have something that does everything, so this would be just a minor upgrade.
As usual, I'll probably agonize over this decision far longer than is worthwhile.
