FlyingBIZKIT: Little Tybee – “A Dog Waits in the Doorway”
A little impression of a song, barely enough for me to latch my teeth onto.

This is a nice little song, but there’s really not much here for me to play around with. It feels like the first track or last track on an album, set there for the sole purpose of setting or leaving the stage. Unfortunately, then, despite enjoying it alright, I’m left looking for some kind of payoff. How can I say this in a way you’ll understand… Ah, here you go—this song is all foreplay and no penetration. Nice and gentle foreplay, sure, but still just foreplay. 5.5

Too bad for you, foreplay is the best part of sex. Blueballing is a lifestyle, my friend.

Well okay then, that's about three points more than I expected. Definitely don't start with the EP, I'd recommend either Odonata or, well, Evermind.

I also almost sent Bowie last round, but I like that Leonard Cohen album a bit more, and I'm not a big fan of I Can't Give Everything Away.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Go group C! Although it does mean our standings basically haven't changed. :lol

Yeah I thought/hoped you'd like Karmakanic more than The Flower Kings. Like I said in my submission, I love some of TFK's stuff, but it can be pretty indulgent and meandering. Karmakanic especially on that album are more tight and focused, and generally have more engaging vocals.

Interested to see what theme Nekov comes up with.

Damn this group is tough  :lol. I didn't know how well that song would go but I had to try something different. As far as the theme, I had thought of one that would greatly benefit me and screw the other guys, but Seneca would probably suffer from it. Let me see if I can come up with something else and I'll let you know.

Theme and song sent!
I guessed correctly my first impression and given that comment I was prepared for a 5. I never imagined to win this round.
I like better other songs in the same album, Ruba's theme forced me to choose Solstice. In another roulette a song that simple wouldn't have worked well, I think.

Now I am sending a song I really like and i will obviously fail

Round 6 THEMES

A: Grief/Mourning
B: Female Growls
C: Songs with wind instrument solos
D: Songs containing screaming. I would like to warn that scream is different from growls, songs with growls and not screams are not allowed.

Hopefully LordCost will pitch in with his thoughts on this, but I'm pretty liberal in my definition of screaming.

These are the first songs that came to mind: Circle Takes the Square - "Enter By The Narrow Gates" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1aZCb8puLM and Converge -  "Fault and Fracture" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38m1NXeQP4E (Warning though... I don't like Converge)

But I would also accept plenty of songs that are less harsh on the ears, such as something like La Dispute's Fulton Street I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkgBqpPDlps or Brand New's Gasoline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLKM3AZJ6ag

I'd also permit a lot of black metal vocals, provided they're closer to raspy, hoarse shrieks than gargling growls. Think Alcest's "Percees De Lumiere" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-kW-rxzJ_0

If it sounds like Opeth, it's a nope-eth.

Yes. If it sounds like Opeth, it is definitely banned.

ETA: Last theme has been added to the list.

Yeah that's definitely the easiest theme this round, but I think overall the four themes complement each other really well. Should be some dark stuff across the board.
