On one hand, the legendary Mr. Van Zant emphasizing that yes, he's going down the Brickyard Road for the bazillionth time, with backup singers saying...you guessed it, Brickyard Road. On the other, we have a singer oversinging what had the potential to be a decent track to criminal proportions. Subtlety, it matters man.

I remember hearing all the hooplah when Passing Light of Day came out, Album of the Year was all over my FB feed about it, so I felt obliged to give it a listen and just remember being very underwhelmed in general, enough not to bother going back. Maybe some older stuff would do better, who knows, but the singers voice just didn't do it for me. That was probably what made the choice between the two, that and it was Ruslan's third time on the block.
