The wrestling games were always the best for creating your own characters. We made so many different characters, and we'd always remake the same characters in every game.
Yea I would look up online created characters for celebrities or other wrestlers that weren't in the game to create some pretty cool playable characters. That was always fun.
The great thing about the THQ wrestling games is that they went from making the WCW games to making the WWF games, but they left everything in there so you could create any of the WCW wrestlers, all of the moves/taunts/clothes/faces etc.
I always hated seeing people post CAWs for random people though, and it would always be listed under cheats taking up space.
Yea that was great to leave all that stuff in the game for the fans. I recall I had a forum I would go to for CAWs and they were always solid. I also had my game genie for more unlockable goodies in those THQ games. Why can't they just make a new one based off that same engine?!?! I actually bought one of the newest wrestling games like 6 months ago for PC because it was on sale and I was hoping to bring back that nostalgia and the game flat out sucked. Totally unenjoyable IMO.
The new ones are ok for the occasional play, but they don't flow like those older ones, and they still lack a lot of the features. I played a ton of WCW Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000 recently with my brother, and it was still the most fun I've had playing a game in ages. We'd spend ages reversing and blocking everything, and even the most lowly punch and grapple was well earned.
The Gamecube ones were actually very good, and the most similar to those N64 games, even though it wasn't the same group. I'd love to see a new game based on that engine. I've even looked into whether there was any way to get the code from it to do it myself.
