See it live. You can literally feel the heat from the stage.

Dude, I was sitting quite far away in the second elevation when I saw KISS in 2004, and when those pyros went off, it was very warm. I remember thinking at the time that it must have been hotter than hell on the stage.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

When I went to see them on the reunion tour, I had a sty on my eye. when the flames went off my sty popped out
Not sure why, but it happened.

When I saw them on the Sonic Boom tour, they played an outdoor arena and did their usual thing, which was awesome.  :metal

But the thing that really astonished me actually happened after they had walked off the stage - they had a fireworks show, shooting rocket after rocket in the air that continued long after we've even left the arena. It felt like leaving a circus show, not a rock show. And I wondered how they even got the permission to do that.  :lol

When I saw them a few years ago, their pyro accidently caused a fire on stage. The show was delayed a bit but the band ad-libbed and started playing Firehouse, which wasn't in the setlist. So that was pretty cool

Listening to COTN today.  Good GOD, what a f*cking great album.  I'm also fairly comfortable in saying that I think ILIL is the weakest song on the album, which is saying a lot, because despite having heard it 1000000000000000 times, it's still not a bad song.

I would agree with you on ILIL.  I've heard it way too much.  And, honestly, I don't understand why that song has lasted as long as it has in the live set.  Just because it's a later era Gene highlight?  It has such a plodding, lifeless feel to it (other than Eric's bombastic drums).

It's unquestionably one of the single most boring Kiss songs to play on the guitar.

Especially the solo!  Vinnie must've been like "Where are all my thirty-second and sixty-fourth note runs?!?  I can't believe I co-wrote this song!"

Ace probably didn't want to "play" a guitar solo written and played by someone else in the video.

This thread has now officially cost me money!

For about $20, from Amazon, I've bought used versions of Sonic Boom and Monster, along with a remastered version of Unmasked (which I didn't have on CD) and the Amazon mp3s of the four Killers tunes. I actually have the vinyl upstairs.

Sonic Boom apparently comes with rerecordings and a DVD. Nice. Not sure why they rerecorded some of what they did. I would've definitely rather them do something a little more obscure like an updated version of The Oath.

Amazon lists most of the Remasters at $4.99!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I'd like to hear KISS's "Never Enough" mashed up with Poison's "Nothin' But A Good Time".

And while we are making comparisons, the beginning of Yes I Know reminds me to the beginning of Nothin' To Lose and Stand reminds me of the beginning od Rock And Roll Damnation.

Also, halfway through my first listen to Sonic Boom, and it is nowhere near Monster's caliber.

Most like SB over Monster. I like both with SB just a bit more.

You could make one very good album out of both, but if I want to listen to KISS I'm not reaching for either of them too often.

I could barely get through Monster honestly. Sonic Boom is at least very solid throughout, with some great songs.

That. Monster is still pretty good, but it's a regurgitated Sonic Boom. At least Sonic Boom regurgitates older, better KISS songs. :lol

I totally agree with you.  IMO, Monster is light years ahead of SB.  The main difference is there are actually quality Gene songs.

But, to someone else's point... Both albums are pretty identical stylistically - Strong Paul opening song, 4-5 Paul songs total, 4 Gene songs total, 1 Tommy/Ace space song, 1 Eric "All for the" song, 1 Paul/Gene song.

I agree 100% with this.  I find both to be extremely mediocre (Sonic Boom less so).  My Sonic Monster would be...
1. Modern Day Delilah
2. Russian Roulette
3. Shout Mercy
4. Outta This Word
5. (Yes I Know) Noboby's Perfect
6. Stand
7. Wall Of Sound
8. Long Way Down
9. Freak
10. Say Yeah

I find it funny that 3 of the songs Gene brought to the table for SB and Monster had titles from his '84-'85 demos.  He truly is the king of recycling song ideas.
