Well as it turns out, a huge stressor that really had me worked up last week ultimately was moot because of a colleague. She didn't necessarily mess up, she just missed her deadline which impacts my deadline. I was under the impression that I had half the time to do twice the work in order to make this deadline, only to find out I'm absolved of it for now because I can't work with what I haven't been given. On top of that, our annual Summit is a month away so it's crunch time for everyone. That said, I've made killer progress in just about everything for it, so I'm on top of my responsibilities.

For now.

My wife is feeling that stress right now. The other two techs work harder at not doing their job and then the boss is harder on her. I know the manager is stressed and relies on my wife a lot but that's the wrong was to handle it as a manager. you don't want to burn out the good ones. You want to push the others to better themselves freeing the good ones to do what they do.

There was some real turmoil here 3 weeks ago; boss was really abusing power and almost lost her entire staff. A few Coming to Jesus meetings *seem* to have sorted that out but one thingI know for sure is we know nothing for sure here.

You have to be firm but fair as a manager. I don't get too high or low. At least I try and always make sure to point out the good. You have to let them know that. Being negative all the time is a bad environment to work in and people well respond poorly to that.
