Let me begin this post by saying I recently made a career move within my company partially because it made my job security go from very tedious to pretty safe.

So we got a company wide email yesterday afternoon about a conference call today that every single employee should try to be in on. First time that's ever happened in 12 years for me. As one might have predicted ~100 of 4,000 jobs are being cut.

But my favorite part was, now let's not whisper and just get back to work. Yeah, that's gonna happen.

We were told anyone being cut will know by days end, and even though I'm pretty sure I'm safe, you can bet I'll be happy if I'm clocking out like normal in two hours.

So I grew the balls to go speak with our manager, who makes the final decision. During the conversation I was told that I was "far from a stellar employee" and that he wouldn't be passing my probation. He also gave me a chance to resign. I respectfully told him I wasn't going to quit, and we went from there. So now I play the waiting game. I am still doing my job (even though it's fucking hard to do so knowing that they aren't keeping me)... I don't have a specific date or timeline... I can be let go on Friday or in a month. I just don't know. But it is happening and I have accepted it.

I can't handle much more than a few months. At one of my old jobs, it was shut down for the winter. After the first month it was nice, but by March I was reading to kill those in close proximity to me.
