The most recognizable drum fills ever

Let's list them.  I'll start:

In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins (don't even have to say when or what it is)

Guns N Roses- November Rain. You all know the one (which is easy since it's repeated like 100 times on the song, and 10000 times on the rest of the album).

It's the one I thought of as soon as I saw the thread title. Nothing else compares, in my mind.

Does the outro of Zeppelin's Rock n Roll count? :lol I can't say I think of any others, although it's possibly more of a drum solo.

I would quote a lot of old songs, like we will rock you for intro fills, but the first thing that jumped in my head and stayed is 6 o'clock XD
It's THE intro drum fill for me
EBMM JP12 Cherry Sugar + JP7 Pearl Redburst
Axe FX 2 XL+ & MFC101 MK3 & Roland EV5
Boss WL-50, Morpheus droptune, G-Lab Wowee Wah, 2x Yamaha HS7, Sennheiser HD25 SP2 & Jamhub Bedroom

A few that come to mind :

By Tool, the intro fill to sober : (https://youtu.be/hglVqACd1C8?t=10s) and the one that begins the drum solo in 46&2 : (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tja6_h4lT6A&feature=youtu.be&t=4m30s)

The intro fill to Cafo by Animals as leaders : https://youtu.be/NmfzWpp0hMc?t=8s

But my favorite is probably at the end of the climax of Silent Flight Parliament by Between the buried and me : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR1AisSht5Y&feature=youtu.be&t=4m17s

Unto the Locust by Machine Head has some amazing ones, ones to come to mind now are this one on Locust and pretty much the whole second verse of Darkness Within.

people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Run To The Hills is my go-to thought on drum fills.  As far as Rush goes, I'm partial to Red Barchetta.

But In The Air Tonight is the clear winner for this topic.

Yeah, I'm with you on that.  I saw the title and thought "there's really only one answer here..."

If you mod the title to be "Except for 'In The Air Tonight'..." I would include:

Jack and Diane, Mellencamp
The End, Ringo Starr
Tom Sawyer, Neil Peart
Where Eagles Dare, Nicko McBrain

For Bonham, the Rock n Roll outro is the best choice.

There's a phased drum-roll in Kashmir that would fit in this tread nicely.

How about the intro to "Owner of a Lonely Heart"?

Intro to Money For Nothing is up there too.  Not exactly a 'fill', but certainly very memorable and recognizable drum segment.

In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins (don't even have to say when or what it is)

It is indeed the most recognizable, and most mediocre, part of a lame song.

Minority opinion. I know.

My first thought was Tom Sawyer.

You can close the thread now, MODs.

Right!

But for Zeppelin, I'd go with the very Bonham's very simple entrance into Stairway To Heaven. The most classic four drum hits in rock n roll.

How old are you?  More correctly, how old were you when MTV first started?   ITAT was like the 20th song aired or something like that.  That sound was something unmediocre, and unlame to a 15 year old boy just getting into music.

(Bonus trivia: Everyone knows "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles was the first song/band played... what was the second?  What was the first Prog song/band played?  What was the first metal song/band played?  Who was the first Beatle to appear on MTV?)

Just guessing:

Second song: No clue.
First prog band: Saga I can't remember the name of the song, but they played it all the time. Worlds Apart maybe.
First metal band: Judas Priest-Breaking The Law
First Beatle: No idea. I'll say George. Or Ringo.
