So it's been a while since anything interesting has happened at the hotel. Story time!
This morning I get a texts from one of the tenants who live near the property saying that there is a guy outside yelling, he is shirtless and barefoot with red shorts on. I write her back and say I'm almost there and I'll take care of it. I get to the hotel and all is quiet, maybe it was a drunk guy I think.
About 10 minutes later my maid comes in with this frightening look on her face and says some guy is going nuts upstairs, it's a guest and he is fucked up. Screaming at the top of his lungs making zero sense, yelling something about his bed sheets. I call the police and they show up, they tell him to sit outside while they go into his room. While they search his room he is just rambling nonsense about have deep cuts all over his body (he seemed visibly fine). I go back to my office and let the police take care of it. One of the officers comes down and tells me they found "loads of crack" in his room. He was apparently smoking it and shooting it up, so off he goes to jail.
Now I'm having some coffee.
Damn. Is there anything you're supposed to do with that room before it can be rented out again? Do the police mandate that you have the room cleaned and inspected because narcotics were present?
Not in this case no, they did take some photos, took his items, took a statement and that's it. Fairly simple.
We had someone stay here who killed somebody, that was a bit more interesting.
A couple years ago in April a girl shows up to rent a room, looks like a spring breaker, nothing out of the ordinary. I rent her the room and that's that. Later that night I get a call on my cell phone (the hotel forwards calls to my cell phone after hours) asking to speak to a manager. I say I'm across the street at a local bar and I'll be over, this guy tells me he is waiting for me in a toyota 4runner. It was a really weird call because most after hour calls are people looking for a room.
I walk over and this big guy comes out of the suv, shows me a badge, he is an undercover cop. Asks about a room at the hotel, the room I rented to the girl earlier, he says there is a guy there that has a warrant, he won't go into the room because he doesn't want to cause a scene (we were packed that night) and he will just wait until the guy leaves. He also lets me know that there are undercover cops next all possible exits near his room.
As time goes on I start noticed more and more sheriff's car show up, plus unmarked SUV's, they also close down the roads leading to the hotel. The guy tried to leave and they arrested him, by that time the us marshals were there with about 20-30 local and state police. Turns out this guy (who looked like a mid twenties thug) killed two drug dealers about 45 minutes north of here and fled. They found out where he is through his girlfriend (the one I rented to) and tracked him to our place.
They tore that room apart, and roped it off for a day or so. We get some excitement here from time to time.
