DTF Chat Thread v. Gadzooks!

I've been pulling at of 12's as of late, but usually 7a-7p, with the occasional 3a-3p. This was my first time working 3p-3a. It was... different.  The good thing though is I was working with our 2 best and most experienced graveyard employees, one whom used to be a shift leader, and one who soon will be one... so I was just able to relax and get my shit done..usually when I'm in during a graveyard shift, I'm stuck holding people's hands the entire time. Lol

A little over a week til the summer hols are over and our cafe quietens down.

this summer has been so busy that a few staff have left because they can't handle the workload. . .

But they've got a few more people starting soon so once everyone goes back to work / school it should be really nice and fun again.

I can't complain about my wages though

School has already started here and the hotel has completely died, we are now entering the slow season, really nice for a change.

Yeah it seems that on a busy day - like the last half hour before my shift ends - EVERYONE comes in .

That sucks so bad -and you can't leave until it's quiet...and people keep on piling in.

Without fail in the last half hour before i'm due to finish.

So it's like - one table leaves and you turn around and it's already filled up with new people and they haven't even waited for you to clear it first.

And we have four outside tables too so sometimes you have four new tables inside to serve and people coming in from outside trying to order and it's like

In other news - my bike is due it's MOT so it's at Dads so his friend who rents one of the barns for his mechanic shop can look at it.

So it's off the road til it passes that. But winter is coming so I probably won't use it much. Except on nice days when the road is not ice

I already hate driving in anything less than gorgeous weather. There's NO WAY i'm going out driving on an icy day. NO WAY.

Speaking of less than gorgeous weather, it was 20C/68F and clear outside today. TOO HOT! :grumpycat: Yesterday was 16C, which was perfect walking weather.

(and yes, I went for a walk both days)

My Pedometer app says I do around 6 miles a day. I'll be beach bod ready just in time for......

Is that from specifically going for a walk, or is that just the cumulative total from being on your feet working?

Obviously I don't accumulate any miles from working. My recent walks have been 2-3 miles.

It's everything in one day . Yesterday was 9 miles.

Agreed on that.  But it's a set of programs that's called Adobe Marketing Cloud and we're looking at the CMS. It just seems overly complicated, but that comes from someone who loves working with WordPress.

Never even heard of that one, so I'll let you have it. I'm not much into web stuff.

Those are quality programs indeed. Photoshop is the only one I'll use myself and then, it's mostly to cut out stuff from a website layout someone else on the company has made.

I literally have Photoshop permanently open no matter what I'm doing. Any kind of graphical project I do will require it.

My number one program is probably Notepad++.  I hate all those resource demanding UI's. I like it simple, fast and clean.

I use Notepad++ too, if I need to view hex, or if I'm opening some code, or checking a file header.
Most of the stuff I do requires resource demanding UI's, hence the beast of a computer.

I can imagine that, when working with 3D objects and video editing. I'm just happy to just have to deal with lines of code.

3D rendering and video editing are two of the biggest RAM whores.

My friend is a programmer, so it's funny when he says that the project he's been working on for almost a decade is only a few hundred kilobytes to backup (it was well over 100k lines of code he'd written, can't remember how much more), and every project I create is tens of gigabytes.
