I always drink the sugar free / low carb ones. The whites are the best though. The ones with the engraving and shit on the cans..

Dangit, I just fixed up this laptop (installed new HD, set up Windows), but now for some reason the battery doesn't work now.
I know the battery was good, but now as soon as I unplug it, the thing instantly turns off. Windows recognizes whether there's a battery there or not, but it always says it's 99% and charging. It seems too coincidental that it stops working after I made a hardware change, but I can't figure out a fix. All I see online is "your battery/charger need replacing". I don't want to spend money on stuff I don't need just to troubleshoot this though.

Try leaving the battery out overnight. No ideas other than that.

I'm clueless on this sort of thing. I've tried Googling a couple of things, but it's not registering anything from the battery at all. I hope I didn't break anything while messing with it.

It could be anything from a dodgy battery to power adapter to drivers. At the least I would try removing the battery from Device Manager and then scan for hardware changes to refresh the driver settings etc....

I'm not great at this sort of stuff either but have found that removing an item from Device Manager and then letting Windows find it again has worked for a number of things in the past.

Tried that a little while ago, didn't do anything. I don't think it's a driver problem, because the thing won't even power on from battery, or register any lights when the AC is unplugged.
The battery was perfectly fine a few days ago before swapping out the hard drive, so that leads me to the conclusion I've maybe damaged something along the way. Maybe the power adapter, although I would have thought the battery was still good enough to register. Maybe something got damaged while I had it open. Maybe whatever happened has damaged the battery too.
I just wish I had a way to narrow it down so I'm sure before spending more money to fix it. If I knew it was 100% the battery or adapter, I'd be fine just buying that and moving on.

How does the battery bay connect to the motherboard? I've never opened a laptop up before, but if it's just a connector you may have dislodged it.

I checked that, and the connector is mounted directly to the M/B. The connectors on the battery and laptop look fine.

Blob that sucks. I hate not knowing how to fit something so important to our daily life. Hard to believe I just said that but without my computer, I'd have to actually interface with real people. I do that too much all day all ready.

I stopped watching Defiance after the end of S1, and that was already being very generous. Between the terrible spiritual crap with the redhead slut and the crushing disappointment of that main guy being brought back to life, I knew it was time to give up. I don't think I could ever be that desperate for new scifi to watch.
I'm on the fence with Dark Matter for the moment. There's not enough to judge yet, so I'm indifferent to it until I see more. It has potential to be great, but it could go either way.

It's ok. Entertaining enough. Each episode is under an hour and it stars Alan Davies and Caroline Quentin ( who's really good in it ).
