For Pantera, I would take "Power Metal" over anything else in their discography. Those first four albums need to be re-released, but likely never will; the band never seems to want to acknowledge them and has been ignoring them for years.

Yeah mate - not sure why that is...........   I liked this one up to Vulgar Display (which was very heavy for me back then......still is) ............after that they really broke big with Far Beyond Driven but it started to sound more about a heaviness competition than the music to me.

Cowboys is the sweet spot for me between heaviness and melody- up and down album but the highlights (Cemetery Gates etc...) are bloody brilliant.

Even their hair metal era did nothing for me. As they got heavier I had zero interest. I do like cemetery gates but that's it. Too shouty for me. I don't really get the Dimebag love either. From the Slash school of nothing special.

Dimebag >>>>>>> Slash.  Every day of the week.  I really like Dimebag, but can't stand Slash personally.

prog metal, so obviously one listen isn't going to do it justice, but
what i get out of this is a technically proficient, powerful singer who isn't the greatest at emoting, and a lot of fairly standard but well-done prog metal that isn't quite overindulgent but is dangerously close at times. nothing too original or anything but probably will be worth listening to more when i get around to buying it whenever

What a wonderful record. Hope there's enough people to vote this one on the survivor.

Despite the fact that it took them 20+ years to get their shit together, I'm thrilled that they made such a triumphant comeback on this record.
Condoms? Um, are they like a dream theater souvenir?  Where can I find those condoms? That'd be really nice to havr.

between this and Saor - Aura, I prefer the latter, but this is still pretty good.

i gave like the most "it's good but i don't have much worth saying about it after only a single listen" description possible i have no clue if you're saying you love it or you hate it  :lol

and my roulette's over and i won't have another until 2017-ish at the earliest so there's no worries there

mmhmm... this is definitely black metal... yep.

...nothing else to say about it, it's really... generic? i shouldn't be able to call any black metal generic yet but here i am, there is no distinguishing trait on this album.

i have to imagine this is an entire album full of growers since See Hell was, very much, a grower
i vaguely like the second half more than the first, i guess, but this isn't presently doing a whole lot for me

After reading the Rainbow thread, I'm checking out the Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow album.  Good shit.  Probably will hit up the next couple at some point today.

As well as the first Vandenberg album.  :lol

I can't stop listening to Let it Enfold You by Senses Fail.

I generally don't like the band at all and find everyone one of their albums to be lousy with the exception of this one.

Charles that's 4-5 times in the last couple of days you've played this. Either you really like it or you need to buy some more albums. In the catalogue of Aerosmith albums it's not great.

You've been posting some obscure stuff this week Brent. Not heard this one or the Rapid Fire.

This one Hanover is a re-release of a Canadian metal band called Hanover Fist.  Not bad.........discovered by Eddie Van Halen and a track of theirs got used in The Wild Life movie , where EVH had a hand in the soundtrack.

Rapidfire was a very early Axl Rose band (prior to Hollywood Rose).  I had heard it was good - it is not

Won't get too excited about either of those then.
The TSO was pretty boring too.

Playing Motorheads No Sleep til Hammersmith in honour of Philthy who died today. RIP.

Abyss ain't really Gothic Rock, nor Chelsea's stuff in general, but more like a mixture of genres like darkwave, stoner, dark ambient, etc.
