okay, usually production wouldn't affect stuff like this for me, but... yeah, the production here is just awful and the end result is just a giant blur.
not gonna ask for crystal clear production, but  :lol
though i'm not sure how huge i am on this anyways even production aside

Fair enough  :lol

This guy's a beast when he plays live. This album is a compilation of some of his most popular material, played at different places. Mindblowing modern classical music.

not for me as a whole, but the title track is still amazing. not quite sure I shouldn't have just given it a 10 in my roulette, haha.
one of the tracks outright just sounded like elevator music though

Pretty random stuff here and there, but it's a great album overall, Forced Entry's still the best tho.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

i like the first two tracks but the third doesn't do as much for me. the spacier parts are the best because the production doesn't get in the way of them at all.

Songs for Insects by Thought Industry: impossibly bizarre progressive thrash/avant-garde metal.

don't think this is as good as their debut, but it's still quite good nonetheless. been spinning it a lot and digging it a lot.

I was a big Pantera fan back in my teens and still enjoy some of their stuff now, but I have never heard a single thing from the first four albums.  I never understood why a big band like Pantera never got this officially re-released.

Yeah mate - not sure why that is...........   I liked this one up to Vulgar Display (which was very heavy for me back then......still is) ............after that they really broke big with Far Beyond Driven but it started to sound more about a heaviness competition than the music to me.

Cowboys is the sweet spot for me between heaviness and melody- up and down album but the highlights (Cemetery Gates etc...) are bloody brilliant.

Yeah, both Cowboys and Vulgar are excellent, especially Cowboys.

In real time, I liked Cowboys more than Vulgar and Driven (as they came out), but the quickly grew on me.  My complaint was never with the instrumental section, but the disappearance of Anselmo's vocal range and timbre.  But even with his more one dimensional technique, the music itself was *awesome*.

mixture of songs I like a fair bit and songs I don't get much from, also like twenty hundred tiny interlude tracks
probably would need a few more listens to properly evaluate this though, i may pick it up eventually  :lol
just doesn't hit my current musical mood that well, mostly

Songs for Insects by Thought Industry: impossibly bizarre progressive thrash/avant-garde metal.

I f'ing love this album.  First thing I ever heard from them, and therefore Third Eye was the first thing I ever heard from them and that opening song just blew me away way back in 1994 (I think that is the year I found it).  A great album opening gets me every time.

I don't know if it would hit me the same way if I discovered today because I was purposely looking for something very different back then.  Thankfully, it worked out the way it did and I still love it to pieces today.

Bring Me the Horizon - That's the Spirit

I'm loving this album so much.

I will concede that BMTH long time fans seem to be in complete disagreement with me as this album is their "sell out" album and a radical change to their style that started with the previous album but more realized here.  And if I discovered BMTH way back in the beginning and liked them for that style, I'd probably be upset with this album as well.  Kind of like early Metallica adopters became very turned off by the Metallica meeting of Bob Rock.

But that doesn't change the fact that I find this album ridiculously enjoyable and appreciate the amazing song craftsmanship that was put into this.  It is very tightly developed with extremely well defined themes and hooks with an excellent mix that brings out every instrument (and vocal) that helps the song itself.

This album feels like every single song could be a hit single.  I'm completely floored by the melody and, quite frankly, jealous that it is everything I am striving for myself in melody writing.  The emphasis is where it belongs, but the embellishments and orchestration could stand on their own as well.  Yet at the same time, it feels like one note or instrument changed would destroy the beauty.

This might be the album of the year for me, but I'm too close and too new at this point to make that decision.

okay not even halfway into this and i feel like i wasn't quite sent one of the top-tier tracks from this album already  :lol
pretty cool stuff, though a bit too show-offy at moments, and uuhhh it has no chill thus far (6th track) and i can see it being an exhausting listen even at only 50 minutes

end-of-album edit: yeah this is... too much  :lol it's far from a bad album and probably a lot better on a song-by-song basis but i'm exhausted by about the 30 minute mark and the last 20 minutes start to actually get kinda grating

Even their hair metal era did nothing for me. As they got heavier I had zero interest. I do like cemetery gates but that's it. Too shouty for me. I don't really get the Dimebag love either. From the Slash school of nothing special.
