I'm going to have to check that out (floyd's link) over the weekend.

In 1992, there was a dispute in the New Orleans area as to whether DJ Jimi or MC T. T. Tucker was the first to release a song called Where They(Dey) At.

NSFW lyrics in both of the songs I've linked in my last two posts.

All of this icky rap talk is making me think this thread needs cleansing.

AC/DC - Heatseeker

This is a great rocking song, and one that still sounds good.  I had never heard AC/DC until hearing Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long at a friend's in the summer of 1987, and I loved them both, so when a new AC/DC song and video came out in 1988, it being Heatseeker, I ate it up with a spoon. :metal :metal

Oh yeah. Blow Up Your Video is solid all the way around. Just like you Kev, I was familiar with the radio hits from before that, but this was the first foray into AC/DC once Rock had become my musical preference.

Who Made Who was getting regular rotation again on MTV at the time, and the You Shook Me All Night Long video had a resurgence in 1987 (I thought it was new at the time :lol ).

John Waite - Missing You

Another song that was played to death both on the radio and on MTV.  I am pretty sure it went to number 1 on the pop charts.  I can see why it went to number 1, given the type of song it was and what kind of songs did well around that time period, but I was never much of a fan.  I wouldn't say it is a bad song, but it is just one that never did anything for me.

It's a decent song.  It never did wow me, but a good little melodic rock song.

As I recall, this album was like a lot of hard rock albums in the early 80s, namely that the obvious single was considerably less rock oriented than the rest of the album, kind of more middle of the road. Missing You sums that concept up PERFECTLY.

Never heard any of John Waite's other solo stuff, but never knew he really did hard rock, I thought all of his stuff was melodic/AOR rock.

Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, with Deen Castronova on drums. And christ, who was the bassist?

The Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger

I loved this song the first time I heard it, and I still love it; just an awesome song, with a wonderful vibe.  Great video, too, that captured the mood of the song perfectly.

Minus Mother (which admittedly has its own appeal), Synchronicity was a damn good album.  Wrapped Around Your Finger was one of my favorites (besides Murder By Numbers, which Frank Zappa's touring band for Broadway The Hard Way did a most stellar version of), always loved the video too.

Great song, but not my fav by the Police by any stretch.  Was a 'best of' kind of fan back in the day.  Never dug too deep into them.  It sure was a helluva lot more enjoyable than Doo Doo Doo Doo, Dah Dah Dah Dah.

If the 80s could be summed up in one album, that album, quite simply, would be Synchronicity. Okay, no, it's really Thriller, but for ME, no album sums up the 80s better than Synchronicity. It's a front to back masterpiece, AND it worked hand in hand with the music videos for the album as a complete package in terms of marketing it. Wrapped was a great song with one of the more visually interesting videos of the decade. I probably should get this album again, I had it on vinyl until I sold my vinyls when I moved about seven years ago.

I was never big in to them either. Had the Greatest Hits CD though and listened to the crap out of that. This song was one of my favorites.
