What is Your Most Anticipated Release of 2012?
« on: January 22, 2012, 11:12:59 AM »
For me it would definitely have to be The Mars Volta's Noctourniquet. I've been waiting for these guys to come out with new stuff since I got into them a couple years ago. Over the last year or so there's just been so much talk about the album coming out, but nothing was ever really confirmed. Now that there is finally a release date I can say that I am officially excited.

So DTF, What album are you most looking forward to in 2012?
prog sucks
Even if you're not serious, I'm going to pretend you are and use this as proof that not all heroes wear capes.

The new Circle Takes the Square is easily my most anticipated. Also, Ne Obliviscaris's debut should finally be coming out.

I'd have to agree with this, really. Noctourniquet had been sitting firmly at the forefront of my radar since the 'live rehearsal' videos started coming out... REALLY looking forward to this one.

Honourable mentions go to Our Lady Peace's Curve and Flying Colors' debut. But it's early days yet, isn't it?

Hard to say really... There's so many great releases coming out this year. I'd go with Stolen Babies.

Clockwork Angels by far

That. This 5 year wait between albums is killing me, but I certainly hope it's been well worth the wait. At least with Clockwork Angels, the boys have had nearly 2 years to work on this material, having released a 2-song single back in 2010, so they have had plenty of time to write and RE-write songs.

It would be foolish of me to expect nothing short of a masterpiece, but at this rate, I'd at least expect it to be better than Vapor Trails (which I really like, by the way), and at least a bit better than Snakes & Arrows (which I *REALLY* really like). I love the direction they're going in with "Caravan" and "BU2B", so I am hopeful for this record.

Other notable mentions include Flying Colors' debut album, new Neal Morse solo album, new Spock's Beard, new Flower Kings, and new Marillion. OH!...and OSI, Storm Corrosion, Tool and Muse.

Tough to say this early in but right now my most anticipated is definitely OSI 4. Right behind that, Storm Corrosion and other than that, the artists I actively listen to put out new material at the end of '11 so... Waiting. I'm hoping to hear something from Porcupine Tree sometime this year but I'm not holding my breath; same goes for Tool which I've all but given up on hoping for anything, when it comes it comes (that's what he said to her, who is a transvestite).

Gotta go with Muse.  I've heard they're "drawing a line under a certain period" of their career with this album, and that has my curiosity pretty high.

Also Tool (assuming they actually release an album this year),
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Clockwork Angels. It seems like Rush is actually taking a step in the progressive direction with this one and I couldn't be happier.

I hope to God, however, that the sound on the other tracks isn't as bad as Caravan and BU2B.

Noctourniquet comes in a close second. The live version of Trinkets Pale the Moon was spectacular.

There are quite a few this year.  Even though I'm not ecstatic with "Tattoo", I still can't wait for the new VH.  But very much looking forward to Priest, Kiss, Primal Fear, Rush, Sabbath.

Transatlantic (if it happens)
Steven Wilson 3 - he said he's gonna hit the studio again after the tour
Storm Corrosion - could be awesome like GFD or terrible like Heritage
Flying Colors

LINK ME!!! This is fucking awesome news if true. I mean, sadly that'd mean no PT this year but lately I'm loving Wilson's solo efforts much more than anything PT has done in the last few years.

I don't know if he's hitting the studio right after the tour.  He just said in an interview that instead of working on PT, he's going to work on his next solo album with the touring members of GFD.

How has nobody mentioned Coheed yet? With Josh back I really think they can return to their former SSTB/IKS/GA1 glory days. They're definitely my most anticipated release this year.

Also, this little snippet can only mean good things for me - fucking awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS8IIlW2PD0
