These Walls for sure.

But The Answer Lies Within is a close contender as well as  I walk Beside You.

I don't know what exactly counts as a "simple" song, so I'll just say probably all of them. I love DT's more straightforward songs, and while they may be "simpler" to perform, I find the songwriting behind them to often be more melodic, and concise and catchy, so in that regard I don't consider them simple.

Sticking with songs already mentioned in the thread, I'll say These Walls, Hollow Years, Anna Lee, Another Day, The Silent Man. As I said, basically all of them.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Simple song?

That's very tough, but I might actually go with Beneath the surface at the moment. It's that good.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think if Falling Into Infinity had been constructed according to it's original design plans, Cover My Eyes and Speak to Me would be EXTREMELY strong contenders. Oh, how I wish...

This is a trick question. DT's simple songs have their own complexities with in them.

But if I have to, I'll pick Regression.

It's kind of hard for me to choose.  I guess it depends on my mood at the time

Hollow Years
Wither
I Walk Beside You
Through Her Eyes

Those are my top four.  Right now it's Through Her Eyes

misunderstood not counting with those horrible wanking sounds.

If Misunderstood is considered simple than it's my choice because it's at least top 15 DT song for me. And counting "those horrible wanking sounds" they are essential for the awesomeness of that song.

Other amazing simple songs are Wait For Sleep, Beneath The Surface, The Silent Man, Vacant, ...hmm ... I will include Burning My Soul here I don't like it as I used to anymore but many years ago it was my favorite song from FII I loved every second of it and it's definitely simple song.

Pretty much all of the above. I like their rocking "simple" songs, the shorter ones, be they soft or hard, light or dark, they show that they can play to the melody rather than the rhythm, and be very beautiful when they want to be, such as the ones on ADTOE show.

Here what I would count as "simple" songs:
"Another Day"
"Wait For Sleep"
"Eve"
"Innocence Faded"
"The Silent Man"
"Space-Dye Vest"
"Hollow Years"
"Anna Lee"
"Through Her Eyes"
"The Spirit Carries On"
"Disappear"
"Goodnight Kiss"
"Vacant"
"The Answer Lies Within"
"I Walk Beside You"
"Repentance"
"Wither"
"This Is The Life"
"Far From Heaven"
"Beneath The Surface"

At least, when I think "simpler" I think "lighter" or more melodic, and less heavy and shredding, although I think songs like "These Walls" and perhaps "Burning My Soul" are HEAVY, but still a bit simple, or at least, straight-forward, not complicated.

Best simple songs:

-New Millennium
-Disappear
-These Walls
-Surrounded

In that order.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. G. Sertillanges
