Make an album (according to some specific guidelines)
« on: September 04, 2011, 12:50:29 AM »
Basically, take your favorite DT songs and make a compilation/playlist out of it.

However, there are some catches:

-It must be in track order.
Examples: Pull Me Under cannot come after Scarred.  ITNOG can't come before Take The Time

-An exception to this is: if a song has a later track number on its album than another, but is more songs away from the last song on its album, it can come first, and vice versa for a song with an earlier track number, but fewer songs away from the last song on its album.  This isn't required at all, but is a technique you may use, if you want.
Examples: The Mirror (Track 7/11 on Awake) can come before Stream of Consciousness (Track 6/7 on TOT), if you want it to, because though 7 is higher than 6, it's farther from 11 (difference of 4) than 6 is from 7 (difference of 1).  The Best Of Times (5/6 on BC) can come after Burning My Soul (5/11 on FII), because 5 is closer to 6 (Difference of 1) than 5 is to 11 (difference of 6).

-If you have songs with the same track #, you can put them in whatever order.

-Some songs come in combos.  A combo must be in order and completely featured on your album, no tracks left out.  The combos are: Wait For Sleep+Learning To Live, Erotomania+Voices+The Silent Man, The Mirror+Lie, Burning My Soul+Hell's Kitchen+Lines In The Sand, Regression+1928+Strange Deja Vu, 6 Degrees Of Inner Turbulence Disk 2, and Vacant+Stream Of Consciousness.

-You must use songs from at least 5 albums and no more than 8 albums.

-You must have at least 6 tracks and no more than 12

-Your album length must be between 40 and 80 minutes.

-You must provide a clever title.

-You can ignore any or even all of the rules if you can get the first letter of each song to spell a word or phrase, or if you can get the album length to equal a # of minutes that has repeated digits, such as 44 minutes, for example, of such a value.

Here's something I've fixed up:

Random Songs And Strange Topics

1. The Root Of All Evil
2. Misunderstood
3. Erotomania
4. Voices
5. The Silent Man
6. The Best Of Times
7. Sacrificed Sons
8. Trial Of Tears

Forsaken
Under a Glass Moon
Constant Motion
Killing Hand
Take Away My Pain
Honor Thy Father
I Walk Beside You
Status Seeker

… Sorry, couldn’t resist.  I blame Blob.  And for the record, I typed this post before reading Pols Voice or lonestar’s posts.

Ok, for serious now:

The Least Cohesive Album Ever

A Change of Seasons
Caught in a Web
Misunderstood
Take the Time
Under a Glass Moon
Lines in the Sand
The Count of Tuscany

Justifying the rules:
-ACoS is a 1, CiaW is a 2, Misunderstood and TtT are 3s, UaGM is a 6, LitS is a 7, and TCoT is a 6, but a final track so I’m allowed to put it after all these others.
-No combo songs involved.
-Uses songs from I&W, Awake, FII, SDOIT, and BC&SL.  Plus ACoS – if I’m allowed to count that as my fifth album, then I’d sub LitS for Metropolis part 1.
-7 tracks
-something like 78 minutes, I think.
-I'm waiving the clever title rule because the OP has no clever title.  EDIT:  D'oh!  Okay, title added.

A Change of Consciousness

1. A Change of Seasons
2. Peruvian Skies
3. Hollow Years
4. Metropolis Pt. 1
5. Panic Attack
6. Vacant
7. Stream of Consciousness

67:14

Rules:
-A Change of Seasons is a starter, Peruvian Skies and Hollow Years are 3rd and 4th, and Metropolis is also a 4th, but Falling Into Infinity got more songs so its ok. Panic Attack is the 5th song of Octavarium, so i can but Vacant and Stream of Consciousness on this, because Octavarium got more songs than ToT.

-It have songs from five albums.

-More than six songs

-Got a name.

Good luck ever listening to Peace Sells again without singing that over the chorus. I just ruined it for you. Well, more so.

In the Name of God
Learning to Live
Octavarium
Voices
Endless Sacrifice
Take the Time
Home
In the Presence of Enemies
Strange Déjà Vu
Misunderstood
Under a Glass Moon
Scarred
Innocence Faded
Caught in a Web
Afterlife
Lines in the Sand

Demolishing the rules:
-Considering my first three songs are final tracks, this rule is broken.
-Learning to Live, Voices, and Strange Déjà Vu all used without their combos.
-Uses songs from 11 albums.
-Uses 18 tracks.
-Contains 70 minutes worth of epics alone, plus 15 other tracks.
-Has no clever title.
