Album of the Year 1990 - nomination phase
« on: August 23, 2011, 10:40:23 AM »
Rules:
-Post your 5 favorite albums from 1990; the order does not matter.  If you only like less than 5, list those.  Just no more than 5.
-List the band name first and then the album name.  Like this: Band name - Album name
-If you change your mind, edit your original post.  Do not post them again.
-Only studio and live albums will be counted; no best of, compilations, etc.
-From this point on, any and all Dream Theater albums cannot be nominated.  Side projects featuring DT members can be.
-Posts that you do not follow these rules will not be counted.

Nomination phase will last two days.

Dio - Lock Up The Wolves
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Steelheart - self titled

That's all I can think of for now, although I may edit in more as other people point them out. 91 and 92 will be the extremely difficult years for me to narrow down. Those 2 years are golden years.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

And this is why? Because I&W and Awake will just win? Maybe so, but I would wanna see how FII plays out and if there's an album to challenge it.

Anyway:

Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
King's X - Faith Hope Love
Steve Vai - Passion & Warfare
Queensryche - Empire

Haven't heard too much from this year. This is what I could come up with.

And Scenes.  And then, once we get to the album of the 90s from all of the year winners, the final four would then be I&W, Awake, Scenes and a 4th album, the last of which wouldn't have a chance.  It would make for way too many predictable outcomes.  Besides, a lot of the fun is seeing all of the different albums that get nominated, seeing people maybe getting into albums they hadn't heard previously, and seeing Ravenheart throw fits when his new wave favorites don't make it very far. :P

You know what I almost voted for? Mariah Carey's debut album. That's pretty much a damn near perfect pop album. I resisted the urge though.

The 90s will be sparser for me than the 80s. This was still a great year with some top albums having to miss out.

Y&T- Ten
Hurricane- Slave To The Thrill
Queensryche-Empire
Extreme-Pornograffitti
Warrant-Cherry Pie

Close,

Yngwie- Eclipse
Cinderrella-Heartbreak Station
Warrant-Cherry Pie
Heart- Brigade

Nelson-After The Rain
Gary Moore- Still gOt The Blues
Damn Yankees- St
Fish- vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors
Quireboys- A Bit Of What You Fancy
Poison-Flesh And Blood
Winger-In The Heart Of The Young

And ina really embarrasing admission I bought a GWAR album in this year... Scumdogs Of The Universe. IT's the worst album I own, and I own a Cradle Of Filth cd. And an Opeth cd- the one with the red cover and Satan belching all over it...

YES! So excited we're doing a 90s round. 1990 was a great year, but Empire destroys everything else by a mile.

1. Queensryche - Empire
2. They Might Be Giants - Flood
3. Extreme - Pornograffiti
4. Heart - Brigade
5. Anthrax - Persistence of Time

Very close to the top 5:

Damn Yankees - Damn Yankees
Jeff Lynne - Airmchair Theater
Social Distortion - Social Distortion
Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare
