I changed my mind.

I listened to the album through my laptop's speakers.

I decided to listen to it again through headphones.

Is it just me or does anyone else get a linkin park vibe from the chorus in "I need you"?

Personally, I've listened to the album on good headphones and on a high quality stereo setup. I still think the production/mix could have been better. It's not bad at all, but the instrumentation gets a little muddy at times.

Can't say I hear that, but I never listened to a lot of Linkin Park.  I Need You is one of my favs on the record.

I was pissed off so I bought this album. 6 songs in and I am disappoint. Wouldn't be so bad if Sir Screamsalot would shut the fuck up. Talk about emotionless drivel. James sounds great though.

The screams are minimal IMO and are placed very well and certainly are not overdone.  2 of the songs you have listened to do not have screams and there is a few in the later half of the record that don't have screams also.

One half of the most brutal, growl/screamtastic metal band ever, Krotchraut, has a problem with "Sir Screamsalot?"  Huh.  I'm actually fine with his vocals, despite not being a huge fan of them when "One More Time" was released.  Lots of very good songs on here.  Not an amazing album by any means, but its good.

I don't really hear it all that much, but James did mention Linkin Park in his latest interview, when talking about using both harsh and clean vocals in the same song, so there's probably some influence there.

bumping because I think people forgot about the sticky :P

Captain James' twitter update:

Quote
What's up. We will be playing MullMuzzler song. DT songs, not sure if well do any. Let's take a poll. Who wants DT and who doesn't. CJS.

I think he's going to be overwhelmed with requests for DT :P

But cool that he intends to play some Mullmuzzler, even though I haven't actually heard any. I've only  heard EoP and SI

I imagine a good set would mostly be made up of tracks from the last 2 records, some MullMuzzler tracks, and maybe 1 or 2 DT tracks for an encore. Hell, throw in a Winter Rose track while we're at it. Solo artists should highlight the spectrum of their career.

I can't say my opinion has changed any on this album. It's like listen to LaBrie's take on an Attack Attack type of band. Gross.

Just gave the new album a listen today and I really like it, moreso than EoP. Euphoric is epic and the screams were well placed with the exception of One More Time.

I like the album. The growling vocals are a good combination with JLB's vocals. Anyway, a bit annoying sometimes. My favourite songs are:

Euphoric
I Tried
Just Watch Me
One More Time
Over The Edge
Superstar

Specially "Just watch me"  and "I tried" are wonderful song for me.
I didn't know JLB solo career, so I got Elements of Persuasion too. Another fantastic album. JLB is not just a really talented singer, it is a really talented composer.

No, CC, just you.

Well, f*** me sideways. Off to amazon for a replacement. Hopefully this isn't a widespread problem.

Oh and on topic, so glad I picked this album up. Can't compare to EoP yet, but I admore him for going for a different vibe and not just releasing EoP pt 2. I hate to say this, but the screams work really well on Jekyll or Hyde and Mislead. Not so much of One More Time and This is War. Production seems alright, but haven't listened to it on the home stereo yet.

Just got the album and spun it once.  I like it and will probably like it more with additional listens.  The production seems less loud and a little softer than EoP, but still in your face and less distorted also.  Don't know if I'll like it more than EoP since that album is pretty difficult to top, but SI is definitely a good follow up album.
