Your just proving my point....more doesn't mean better....because someone is technically better means they add more too the music is just ignorant , thats just foolish

we could have this argument all night long..you like what you like i like what i like...I only listen too the show because of Nick because I want too support a fellow DT forum member but I guess my musically preferences dont agree with the show so its alot easier for me to not listen at all rather than try to change peoples minds

Nothing does! You're completely missing the point here. All I'm trying to say is that older doesn't necessarily make music better by the fact that it is older. Sure, a lot of music from the 70s is better than most of the stuff that comes out nowadays, but it's not better because it's 30+ years old.

Bill, opinions aside I hope you realize that I don't want to lose you as a listener. Don't let what others say here change your opinion of the show! Personally, if it's in my realm and appropriate for the show I'll usually play something despite my opinion of it. I have always tried to get listeners involved with the show, but at the same time we can't just say request anything and we'll play it.

On the main topic at hand, I will just say that I personally don't find bands that are influential to be better than newer bands that haven't been. Sure, I thank them for their contributions and inspiring bands I do like, but that is not reason for me to enjoy their music, because quite simply either I like them or I don't.

Sorry to say wkiml, but you're not making any sense. Of course it's fair enough for you to prefer bands from your era, as you put it, but trying to make out that they are simply better and youngsters just don't understand them is nonsense. There's just as much incredible music being made these days. And citing influence as being the most important thing makes no sense either, 70s bands didn't invent vocal harmonies, they've been around for centuries. By your argument, only the people who first invented music can possibly be good surely?

I wasn't going to jump into this, but what the hell.

I generally gear my requests when I make them based on how they would fit the parameters of the show, mostly because it isn't my show.

I have entertained the fantasy of having my own show, but I'm not sure how much time I would need for it or what technical know-how would be needed for such a folly. The one thing I've got plenty of is music. What would be required to make the rest of it happen? I've got no idea.

Then again, is there an audience these days for listening to Frank Sinatra, The Killer Dwarfs and Unexpect right after one another?

In my view there are only two kinds of music (as someone a lot more wise than me once said) Good music and Bad music. It doesn't necessarily matter how old or new it is.

I have my summer schedule nailed down finally, so I can say now that starting on the 24th of this month the show will probably have to end up getting moved back a half hour to be from 6:30-9:30pm. There is nothing I can do to help this, and I know it makes it even tougher for the few Euros we still have making it around, but it will only be for 10-12 weeks.
