It was OUT of the cylinder. Plenty of video and still photos show it. When it was reviewed by the office in NY, they clearly didn't get all the angles. The angle from above and below showed it being clearly away from the cup. But it was so close, that they didn't seen enough CONCLUSIVE evidence to overturn it. Which, by rule, means that the call stands. Unfortunate.

That said, it is what it is. It shouldn't have come down to that.

The rule needs to be changed, but it was goaltending….

It was above the cylinder.  That is against the rules.  Cut and dried, which is why the review took less than 10 seconds.  It was obvious.

That's killer. All the photos and vids I saw, you could see stop motion where it was out of the cylinder when he grabbed it. I'd be interested to know where those cameras are placed to generate that tech, because that's not what I see when looking at photos, depending on the angle.

No, it wasn't. That's why it was reviewed. I know the rules of basketball. It was reviewed, because it was close. VERY close. With the above technology, that is why it was quick to confirm the call.

Luka talks a lot, but he sure backs it up.  He came out tonight and punched the Wolves in the mouth in the first quarter and they crumbled like a bag of potato chips, just like he did to the Suns two years ago on their home court (that was in a Game 7).  What an assassin.

Celtics/Mavs should be a wail of a series, one that could go either way.

Luka and Iriving were great, but the Wolves were also SPENT.

Goodluck to them in the finals.

I don't know who will come out victorious. IMO, this series is such a toss up. I certainly hope the Mavs come out winning. All I know is Kyrie is going to get a hero welcome in Boston  :lol, while I am not sure how Porzingis will be treated in Dallas

SPENT from what?  They had played less games in the playoffs than Dallas (one less), so it's not like the Mavericks were more rested.

They'd be smart to focus on him and not Luka, as opposing fans yelling at Luka only seems to make him play better and then give it back to them.  Him yelling, "who's crying now, mother f'er!" in the 3rd quarter when the Mavs were up by 25 or so at the fan last night who had mocked him early in the game for complaining for calls (which he does do too much) almost made me fall out of my recliner laughing.  He truly is the modern day Larry Bird, who was a major assassin and a legendary trash talker as well.

What a great season by the Timberwolves. Really proud of the team. Congrats to the Mavs. The best player (right now) on the floor led his team to a big win. That's nothing to scoff at. But the Wolves are here to stay and built to last. They will get theirs and be in title contention, health permitting, for the next several years. Very pleased at how they've progressed. A few holes to address (younger PG who can step in for Conley and a bonafide third offensive option), but I'm really happy with them. I'm an original fan since the expansion year, and I still maintain this is the best team the Timberwolves ever had - and best season.

Mavs really got led by Luka, as they should be. What a great talent. Probably the best single player in the league, or at least top-3. Amazing what he can do. I'd be a fan, except for his whining. He whines more than LeBron, and that's saying something. Every call on him or his team is wrong. He's ridiculous. I'm sure he'll get his title at some point, and as long as he takes better care of his body, he will be one of the greatest to play in the NBA. But man, unless you're a fan of the Mavs, it's hard to root for him with all his whining. Kyrie is a dumbass, but at least he just puts his head down and plays hard. I respect him as a competitor way more than Luka because of that.

Regardless, they handed my team their ass, and all props to the Mavs. Glad Lively is okay. Kid has a lot of energy and skill, and I really enjoyed watching him play, even if it was against my team.

I typically have a rule that I won't root for Boston sports teams (I AM a native NYer and a big time Yankees and Jets fan after all), but I'm rooting hard for the Celtics in the finals.

As for the Wolves, a lot of questions remain about their ownership and basketball ops. I read today that Glen Taylor is going to meet with Tim Connelly about his contract situation, so hopefully, now that Detroit has filled its hole, its just a raise and extension for Tim, and life goes on. As for ownership, I just want the arbitration to be over. I have a bad feeling about A-Roid and Lore. I feel like they aren't genuine about keeping the team in Minnesota. But I also feel like Taylor backed out in bad faith because the Wolves are worth a lot more now than they were. So it'll be interesting.

A final note about the Wolves -- I lost a LOT of respect for Kevin Garnett. I loved him as a player. But he kept talking about showing up to support the team, and he never did. His beef with Taylor is now absolutely ridiculous, and I feel, as a fan, he let all of us down, and the current team down. I am sure he'll go to Boston. But the fact he didn't show up in Minnesota was bad. I will always appreciate his playing career, but what a fucking douchebag regarding him not showing up to Target Center. It really would have rallied some of the guys he mentors from afar, and it would have rallied the entire building. Shame on him.

Good luck to the Celtics and their fans, and the Mavs and their fans. Hope it's a great series.

Looking forward to the offseason.

Jason Kidd should be showing this clip on an endless loop for the next two week plus to the Mavericks.

(their concerns were obviously legit, as no one expected this to work out as well as it has in Dallas, but it can still be a good motivating tool)

That's a local Boston sports show. Let's be honest. Kyrie caused drama on 3 teams before getting straight with Dallas. No surprise there.

Exactly.  I can't give him credit for acting how he should have been along.  I mean, props to him for finally growing up in his early 30s, but perhaps we shouldn't kneel before him just yet.

Props or credit but yes he deserves it and anyway I don't think anyone is anointing him just yet.

I's funny - he really hasn't mentioned flat earth in awhile but there's still time. :)
