Speaking as someone who's spent most of his entire life (not adult life, ENTIRE life) in a world where Steve Perry was retired from the music scene, these past several days have been nuts. The song itself isn't anything to write home about- but Perry put in the work to get his voice back in shape for this and sounds like he did 24 years ago. And he's suddenly doing interviews left and right all over the place. As someone who's been a Journey fan for about a decade now who wasn't around for the heyday, this is throwing me for a really weird loop.
I will say, the best part of the new song is the bridge. Which is probably why Perry opted to reprise it at the end. I also think the second verse sounds stronger than the first.
