Make the album cover colorful like the new Priest album "Invincible sheild"

I hope that this new album will be mixed by Andy Sneap, because i enjoyed very much his work on the last band's album.

I don't make me films on the album's format. However, I hope there will be choirs in a few songs, and contrasts, in lots of pieces, between parts very intense and other parts with lots of subtleties.

I can definitely see JP going back to Sneap again.  Not sure what his schedule looks like with Priest touring (or not).

JP finished a European tour on July 24 and starts its North American shows on September 13.

If the band keeps silence on this futur album, it's perhaps because he prepares us a hugh surprise.

I imagine a symphonic orchestra, or some strings, on the final epic.

Actually it would be cool to have a full song arranged for orchestra.

Not just a moment like Illumination Theory - a complete song backed by orchestral instruments and arrangements, when played live Jordan can reproduce the most essential things.

A bit like Iron Maiden with with Empire of the Cloud, where the orchestral elements are prominent in the first half of the song.

Yes! That'd be amazing, kinda like The Odyssey by Symphony X or Six Degrees

Oh yes! It would be fantastic! I hope one member of the band red your suggestion on this forum.

i'm not on the social Dream Theater's medias. If you've got the most little information, concerning the new album's recording, don't hesitat to post it here.

How are you sure that Hugh Syme will be the designer of the album's artwork?

Because he's done the past 7 or 8 album covers, so it probably will be him

I saw the Wizard's post, and my mind went to the exact same thing you did, but I just couldn't put the response together. :lol

If only we knew back in januari, when they teased the freak out of us with those 'back in DTHQ-posts'... that in late august we still officially knew nothing on #16 - no name, no release date, no songs, no single, no cover art - many of us wouldn't believe it.

Good thing we do not know it all, that the future will unfold when time's ready.

Which would be now, please.

Refreshing.

One could argue that he's promoting the tour, though :lol  :P

Thank you JP lol. At this stage, I don't know that we need to know anything else (including 'very soon') until there is actually something to tell us.

I could definitely believe it. I did think they were going to start recording sooner than they did, but once the recording began, it's been pretty quick. Getting back into the groove and reestablishing the band's dynamics was gonna take a little extra time too.
Half of my posts are satire; the other half are serious. If you can't tell which half you're looking at, it's probably the former. I enjoy busting chops amongst likeminded fellows. Where better to feel at home than among the fans of the world's most fun band? :)

Yeah no worries man, it's a very vague post. I get it lol, I figured we'd all be happy to hear something tho, even tho it is not much at all to go by lol

First word at all since James finished his vocals how long ago? Lol

Does John Petrucci wants to tell us that the recording has nearly completed? Or that the mixing has nearly completed? Or that the whole process has nearly competed? His message is vague, but I'vegot the impression that it's volontary.

We can't make any assumptions, because the post was very vague, which is why Max isn't including it in the timeline. But the term 'the album' refers to the songwriting process, the record, mixing, mastering and publishing, and the songwriting and recording has already been completed, so I'd assume that they've started the mixing, for JP to give the update, 'nearing completion'.

Yeah, I got a feeling he meant the whole process, mix, master and all. I got a sneaking suspicion that our next update will be a big one. Just a feeling!

Is this the longest they've taken to write and record an album? ...Not counting the times when they were looking for a singer or when their record label wouldn't allow them to start.

I'd rather have them take the time ::) and not rush it to be honest.
