Anyone wanna guess which songs some of those clips came from?  At least one is really obvious since it was the chorus.  :lol  Any guesses on the others?  :corn

cramx3

The music in that video has got me drooling, the video itself does not, but that's not the point.  This album seems like it's going to be very good  :metal

Evermind

I lost it when the guy riding the raven appeared. :rollin

The music was pretty good though, especially the very first snippet.

There is part of one song in there where they gave us the buildup to a really killer riff.  As I watched it, I was anticipating the riff, and then...fadeout.  :lol

The video is up on The Astonishing site now. The mini_track thing just links to the tracklisting.

This is Dream Theater..not DreamWorks.....

Oops meant to reply to cheese haters

Anyone for the full transcript of the voice over? Between the music, the killer riffs and my 16 months daughter who plays near me, I'm having troubles to focus on the exact words of the narrator.

The video isn't up on the site either. I hope it means those are 'making of' videos.

So much for hoping!  ???

Still pumped though! Production is pretty good I felt!

Yeah, I'm having trouble making all the words out as well.

My guesses, with timestamps based on the trailer on Youtube:

0:00 - Descent of the NOMACs, possibly the beginning of the whole album
0:12 - Dystopian Overture
0:27 - NOMAC sound, could be from any of the NOMAC tracks
0:33 - Ravenskill
0:45 - The Gift of Music (unless it reappears in a later track)
0:56 - Our New World
1:07 - Lord Nafaryus
1:19 - End of Dystopian Overture

One of those surely is Our New World lols.

I'm also willing to bet that one of the heavy riffs are from Lord Nafaryus.

0:00 is from Descent of the NOMACS

0:13 is Dystopian Overture, probably going to be repeated later on.

0:24 is another snippet from Dystopian Overture

0:27 has to be from Descent of the NOMACS

0:34 not sure. Maybe Dystopian Overture again

1:07 and 1:20....Dystopian Overture?

If I guess DO enough times, one of them has to be right  ;D

The trailer has appeared in one of the two "Videos" spaces on the Astonishing website.

I wonder if this is it for today, or will more be revealed later?

So Daryus kills people....

That was a cool little clip--cinematic for sure. Sounds like DT, I am excited

I just wish they'd have not had that narration at all. That trailer was a mess. A cheesy mess.

Music sounded fine from what I could tell though. But if the lyrics are as cheesy as I fear, this album will be impossible to listen to.

Billzo

"For generations The Great Northern Empire of the Americas remained unchallenged.
The mock elegance of an elite aristocracy, in the illusion of comfort they provided,
Conjured a medieval like feudalism, from within the ruins of societal collapse.

But now, from the distant village of Ravenskill,
A magnificent power threatens the false tranquillity enforced by the ever watchful Nomacs.
A literal voice stirs the people in the heavens, threatening the very deepest of slumbers
with the awakening power of artistic expression.

There is a fiery passion which could light the way toward a vibrant future
If it doesn't engulf the world in flames.

Welcome to: The Astonishing."

Could be wrong, but this is what I can make out.

Destiny Of Chaos

The music's great.

When marketing began, we were given a choice of which side to "support". I was hoping for some shades of gray in the good guy/bad guy thing. Seems to be pretty black and white.  But so long as the music's good.. who cares?

Woodworker1

Is the video intended to be taken seriously, or is it poking fun at cliqued sci-fi/fantasy video game stories?

Why don't you just watch it on mute?

I believe JP said that Dream Theater identifies the most with Ravenskill, but that it's not just black and white.
