The whole animation thing looks a little amateur, but the little snippets sound very interesting.

TheOutlawXanadu

All of the music sounds really melodic and soulful. I'm getting pumped!

The music sounds amazing. So much so, that I couldn't hear what the guy was saying  I was too focused on the music.

Thx for the info, I saw with no sound, Still waiting for a premiere

I really enjoyed those snippets, especially towards the end.

Clock guy (kid) riding on the giant raven's back cracked me up.  :rollin

So you just saw the images, but not the words?

DarkLord_Lalinc

The death of Bowie kind of shocks me still, so I wasn't able to enjoy this as I normally would have. I'll try watching again later.

SwedishGoose

Will have to watch with earphones later to really hear the music. As much  as I heard sounded good though.

As for the animations.... They will have a movie length of animations but their budget must be much lower than a movie.... what did you expect?

mikeyd23

The little clips of the songs in the video sound awesome which is the most important thing to me. Are the animations in the video the best? Nope, but as long as the music is great, that's all that matters to me.

AAAH!!! :panicattack: :caffeine:

That intro when the full band kicks in is AWESOME! Beginning of Dystopian Overture, perhaps?

In my head I've been saying "Ravens-kill", but in the video they say "Raven-skill".

Raven-skill sounds funny.

Music was absolutely fantastic. Visuals? Eh, not so much. I do hope the tour has a better visual presentation than whatever that was. Also, the narration was cheese to the max.

Finally I heard a review copy. No spoilers, but it is defintitely not worth the wait.

Music 4/10
Sound 5/10

"I don' like Dream Theater that much, but I had a CD promo and some review to do... so what the f@ck!" - Kevin Moore, I&W Live in Tokyo  ;D

goo-goo

The cheese factor was up there with the Blind Guardian and the animation felt sub-par. However, the music sounds amazing.

I'm super cheese-stoked!

I'd bet the visuals in that video were snippets of the videos that will be used on tour. Yeah they weren't great, but ultimately they are just there to support the music, so if the music is great, the visuals aren't that big of a deal to me.

Did you expect something that wasn't cheese? lol

I think the extreme cheesy factor is fine, because I think that's what it means to be. There are some budget limitations that are very noticeable, but I won't mind. I'm excited as hell for this!

Jinx

Regarding the visuals, I think it will look much neater when it's huge and on the 3d screens. I was watching a video of Trans Siberian Orchestra earlier and there's one where a dragon is flying over a mountain but it's on 3 mahooosive screens and looks amazing. BUT I bet if I was to see just the isolated video I would think it looked a bit "meh".

TH1RT3EN

Well, maybe they could at least upload the clock guy's picture in the TA page, since we've already seen him in this trailer...

jakepriest

Holy fuck this was so cheesy.  :rollin
Concept is gonna be pretty bad, but the music sounds good, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Also am I the only one who feels like JP's tone has been getting worse ever since BC&SL?

How long is the snippet?

The trailer itself is 94 seconds long, and it contains a couple of less than 10-second snippets of some songs.

No, but combined with the visual part, it doesn't come off that great. Also, I just wanted to hear the awesome music.  :lol

Vandalism

The video isn't up on the site either. I hope it means those are 'making of' videos.

ansell

Calling it now. Fire hammer dancing dude is going be a key figure in the story...with those moves, he's gotta be.

thosava

The video is up on The Astonishing site now. The mini_track thing just links to the tracklisting.
