It's definitely touched up here and there but judging from bootlegs, it's really minor. JLB did a great job on this tour.

I can be a bit of a purist with this kind of thing.. but I'm just enjoying the hell out of this DVD. Everyone touches up their shit and DT have the right to do the same.

Exactly. Every live DVD by every band is doctored to some degree.

I wouldn't say every single DVD by every band is altered.

I get what you're saying. But it is common practice. A music professor once told us in class that there are absolutely no 'ethics' in creating music. People will do everything within their power to make their music sound 'better'.

King Postwhore

Why are people put off by this.  It's been done since I was a wee lad (A loooong time ago).  Bands will always do this.  Buy a boot if you want of key singing.

Awake set is so damn good! This might end up being my absolute favorite.. I'd have to check LSFNY and Score again but at the moment this is amazing. That JLB after twenty years is still able to sing these ridiculous Awake vocal acrobatics, amazing.

RodrigoAltaf

And he's really pushing it too...not only hitting the right notes but extending some of them and singing CONFIDENTLY from beginning to end of the show. And he's putting even more effort in entertaining the crowd than in the previous tour. He was on fire last night! There were some guys next to me who had only seen DT on the SysChaos tour,  and they had that "wtf look" on their faces every time LaBrie screamed.

Makes sense, thanks Blob.  At least we got this bad boy on the release date this time.  :metal

Yes! :metal Although to be fair, our release date was also a week later than everyone else. I didn't check on the Friday of release, but on Sunday I found it easily. I think the RR stuff is very reliable, whereas LALP wasn't released by RR.

YtseCullen

Finding so many more nuances that make it so much more epic in the audio compared to the Blu-Ray! It's insane how much more I pick up when Im not stimulating my brain with something visual! It makes this so much better!

Nofire

Does anyone know if BTFW will be released on Spotify in Sweden, or will this be like LALP that wasn't released since it wasn't an official CD, just a BR/DVD that came with CD's (my personal guess why LALP wasn't released on Spotify)?

Just wanted to mention James' crazy scream at the end of Lie, just amazing!  The Mirror/Lie could be my fav part of the whole DVD.

FInally watched IT last night and.... mind blown.  Simply amazing.  :metal

Check out this JLB performance of TheMirror/Lie.

Better even than the one from BTFW, IMO.

James really added up at the second European leg, I was at the last concert of that in Turkey. He sounded a little crispy but he defiantely added up a lot of different parts to his vocals. Didn't think he'd get this better at the South American tour, he got me wrong again! I really hope that they'll release a bootleg of a concert from there, would be as popular as BTFW I guess.

DarkLord_Lalinc

Yeah, it would be amazing if we got a sweaty South American show as a Christmas gift.  :D

James Labrie is just ridiculous... (in a good way)  For the last few tours he has just gotten better and better throughout and always peaked near the end.  No fatigue or anything, his voice is just so strong and durable nowadays.

Part of me thinks it's a shame they recorded the live release so early in the tour.

And wow..that scream at the end is something I would expect from 1993, not 2014 :D  Makes me so happy to see JLB ripping it up like that.

Just chiming in to say James sounds amazing on the Phoenix 3-6-06 bootleg, so Score wasn't just a fluke. Wish I could have been there, but I wasn't a fan at that time. In fact, I don't think I even knew they existed at that time. Set list was pretty awesome too, but no 6DOIT.

Also, that's March, you crazy Europeans.

James was great on that tour.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

As I Am

JLB was the absolute MVP of the "Along For The Ride" tour. Kudos. :metal

MM might have something to say about that.

The reality is the entire band was top notch this tour and it showed in the film and from pretty much everyone's concert experiences.

Ok, I know South American fans get into the performance more, but the singing of keyboard lines was a bit ... silly.

RodrigoAltaf

That's why we're so great: we're not afraid of looking silly at a concert!

PixelDream

That Rio de Janeiro performance was cool! They're already playing stuff different from BTFW, especially Mangini. That's one thing that sticks out about this tour. Even though they're playing a fixed set, everyone is feeling free to play things differently here and there. And as far as JLB is concerned, his improvs were often a bit awkward, but he's feeling very comfortable and it shows. His improvs are actually cool nowadays.

Goddammit Mangini cut that hair off. Even he can't stand it  :lol
BTW the singing every melody or solo kind of annoys me. I think there are melodies that are cool for singing them, like that start of the mirror or the choir part in otboa, among others. But anyway, it's pretty fun being in a show here in southamerica.
