Wow, totally didn't see that one coming.

Seriously, cool list. I enjoy your write-up style a fair bit, they're very random, but in a good way. Also, Beyond This Life rocks, it's been growing on me recently. :tup

Hey, I didn't see that coming for real! I think it's the first time I see BITL that high!

For me, the song is outshined by the zappa jam, especially in the hyperextended 2004 version :hearts:

Isn't that the actual title?  ???
Yeah. It's from A Dramatic Turn Of Scenes From A Memory. Here's the song list!

1.This Is The Regression
2.Overture 1992

4.Through My Words (No jokes here.)
5.Fatal Tragedy (About BMU BMD)
6.Bridges In This Life
7.Through Her Eyes (Look at TMW)
8.Home On The Backs Of Angels
9.The Dance Of Outcry
10.One Last Time (Look at THE)
11.The Spirit Carries On... Far From Heaven... TO HELL!  :metal
12.Broke This Illusion And Finally Free
13.Canadian Rap

:metal Great choice for #1! I don't like the Budokan extended version much (I always skip the extended noodling), but otherwise I agree that it's an underrated track from SFAM, and one of my very favourites from it. One of their best instrumental sections ever.

I think I've said enough of BTL numerous times before already... :lol Anyway, your writeups were random at times but that's why they were entertaining! :tup

I'd take BTL over Home, and twice on Sundays.

This of course. Very much this.

Unlegit

Great song, very under appreciated in my opinion. Don't have it that quite high on my list, but you'll see.

From 7:11 and onwards, Beyond This Life is sheer genius. The main riff bores me though, which is sad because the song has such great moments.

I used to not like it that much, but it grew on me after I realized how awesome it is. There are a lot of different inspirations in it, I could compare it so a Haken song although that's a bit of a stretch.

nicmos

Agreed it is probably one of the most underrated DT songs.  excellent choice.  I just love when "Our deeds" kicks back in after the long instrumental section.

Great to see more than the same old songs at #1.  At least it wasn't ACOS.  (sorry, ACOS lovers.)

DebraKadabra

Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

Zydar

Beyond This Life is a great song, not really a Top 10 for me but definitely Top 20. The Budokan version is cool as well.

And that chorus! "Aaaall that we've learned this tiiiime (What we have been is what we aaare)".

Beyond this Life would be the worst song on the album, had Through Her Eyes, Regression, Through My Words and The Dance of Eternity not existed.
How's that for your #1?
