Hey, you've still got plenty of chances to send me into a rage!

Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite

13.Another Hand/The Killing Hand

Live At The Marquee. AAAAAAAAHHHHHhHHHHHH!!!!!

12.Outcry

An excellent song from ADTOE. This song has some of the coolest intros that DT has ever written. The piano is wicked cool and the chorus is really catchy. The lyrics are pretty cheesy  but fun to sing along to. I also really like drumming on this track. Can't wait till the new album to see what Mangini really has to offer.

11.Fatal Tragedy

Now go and do air keyboard to this song. I'm clearly too lazy. Fine...

FT is an excellent song that is both short and sweet. The song has a really cool solo section and It's always very fun to listen to. There. Is that enough?

Lolzeez

Naikon

I agree with Fatal Tragedy, though I would even rank it a bit higher!

10.Lines In The Sand

THIS SONG IS REALLY GROOVY!!! The intro is imo the best by Sheranian and the bass work by Myung is freaking outstanding.Mike is awesome with the double bass and Petrucci is throwing some nice riffs at you. King X's vocalist is a guest star in the chorus which is pretty cool. Of course i have to mention the JP solo. What can i say? It's sweet. The song gets heavier as it progresses and It builds up nicely. Definitely worth a listen. Pfft. Like you have never listened to it. Wow my write ups suck. :c

9.Endless Sacrifice

You probably hate me after me calling TDOE the best instrumental DT song or after me not putting Octavarium,Metropolis,ACOS and The Glass Prison in the top 10.(I still love you <3 ) Anyways, this song kicks any song from ToT's ass. The intro is slow but very cool. It gives the song a cool feel to it. JLB sings with a ton of emotion. Not as much as Disappear or anything but still pretty emotional. We also get to hear some great keyboard playing from JR which gives the song a great flavor. The chorus is very catchy. The song gets much better after the first time we hear the chorus as the song gets louder. The keyboard playing really stands out like I said. And then there is the solo section. Just like TDOE people call it wankery. I say bs. I don't care if It's complete wankery cause it's wicked cool. The song literaly explodes and turns into the "So Enegeh Powah!" mode. After the beautiful keyboard solo the guitar becomes much heavier and then JLB comes back to sing the chorus one more time and then the song end. If you pay attention you can hear the snarling pig. Awesome. I love this song.

Phew....

8.Scarred

Excellent song with an even better solo section. The chorus is really good and James' singing is just awesome. The solo section is really cool. That KM solo and then that underrated JP solo. Such a lovely combination eh? There really isn't much to say here. Oh wait.

Hi Blob

AND

Prepare for a cool surprise...

7.The Silent Man

One of the most simple songs by DT. And It's just beautiful. James sounds gorgeous and the acoustic guitar gives this song some life and emotion. This song is just simple and catchy. It might be weird having this song WAY up. But I got no shame. I can just sum this up in one word:Beautiful. For example there is a little guitar solo which sounds so beautiful. JLB and JP's singing are beautiful. (or whoever is doing the back vocals.) The chorus is beautiful. I'm beautiful. Need anymore examples of beautiful things? I don't think so.

You <3

BlobVanDam

Well I don't even need to say anything about #8, but of all the songs on Awake, I highly approve of The Silent Man at 7. :tup A great little acoustic ballad, and one of my favourite tracks off Awake. If you have speakers with good enough bass, you'll hear a super bassy low E drone note (don't know if it's a keyboard, or pedals) during the chorus that beefs it up nicely too.

And you are not beautiful. You put Scarred in your top 10, you ugly, ugly person. :getoffmylawn:

Agreed, Scarred includes some of the best soloing by both KM and JP! :tup TSM isn't really surprising, as I remember your post from DT the League where you said you voted for it against 8V

wasteland

It's honestly quite surprising to see TSM so high on the list. It's a good song that was made even better with the full band performance, but I wouldn't place it in my top 30. As for Scarred, HI BLOB

Onno

Scarred is absolutely amazing. The Silent Man is a really cool song but I don't think it would be in my top 30; maybe it'd be in my top 50.

What's that old saying? "If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth"? Sorry, not gonna work here. :neverusethis:

Have you ever considered asking JLB about his favourite DT song? :neverusethis:

I don't get the reference.

Oh, well... I assumed you knew which song it is :neverusethis:

Prog Snob

My Top 50 will most likely be bereft of The Silent Man, but all sorts of Scarred-ness will grace it.

iamtheeviltwin

Good to see Endless Sacrifice so high.  I love the song and the lyrics are far more emotional than the underlying music leads you to believe.

Scared is awesome. But it's great to see some love for the softer side of DT. I wouldn't place it that high, but The Silent Man is so unappreciated.

The Presence of Frenemies

I don't really like the original TSM, but I love the LSFNY version.

6.Breaking All Illusions

Amazing song with awesome lyrics, awesome solo section, awesome middle section, awesome vocals, awesome riffs, awesome intro and so on. I dont have much to say. Though I have to mention that the chorus has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. This song just symbolizes DT. This is the song that got me sold on DT post Portnoy. It took them 4 albums after SDOIT to give us that amazing and mindblowing DT song. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy songs like Endless Sacrifice,Octavarium,Repentance,The Count Of Tuscany etc.  It means that this song pretty much felt like DT got into a car and went for a ride ( :neverusethis: ) to go back in time. Right back to the SDOIT era. You understand what I mean. This song rules.

5.Blind Faith

One of the best solo sections EVER. Seriously, these guys are beasts. James' singing is really cool and there are some seriously badass riffs throughout this song. Anyways yes,the unison is excellent. It's just mind blowing as well. How the heck do people get that good?! I also really like 3:16. That section with the guitar roaring has always sounded really cool to me. Also,I really like the chorus. It's catchy as heck and just fun. Not much else to say. This is the best song off SDOIT.

Also,give me some predictions.
