Damn. :lol Hopefully we'll have a tracklist within a couple of weeks, so then we have something to discuss to death until the single comes out.

Yes, a track list (and hopefully even artwork) could totally hold me over til September.  :tup  :metal

It's pretty unremarkable. Not bad, but to me it's nothing more than a song from a video game. I barely count it as a DT song. It's probably something they jammed out over a few nights at sound check. If it was on an actual album, I would definitely understand the hate, but considering its circumstances, its pretty much what I would expect.

-Marc.

Okay, I guess. But I think the point was that Mosh felt like the song was quickly thrown together. Whether it was for a one-off 'mixtape' or for the actual game isn't really that relevant, is it? I mean, I know some bands that made music specifically for video games, and that music was actually in the video game, and I still consider it a part of their catalogue. Of course, in that case, the music was consistently good compared to the rest of their discography.

But yeah, for Raw Dog, while DT are no strangers to making instrumental tracks, the fact that it was all hyped like, "New DT song made for this God of War thing!" and they didn't even make an effort to do an actual song, with James laying down some vocals, did make it seem like they just quickly got it over and done with, and didn't really care too much about it. Unfortunately.

BUT YES! NEW ALBUM! WHOO! Personally, a tracklist and art work would NOT hold me over until September. I want that single, damn it!

Moor

It is a solid track pretty much involved in the God of War theme, unlike the Throat of Winter which constitutes a solid ground for a legal action by the God of War guys against Mikael  :lol

GOD WAR BACKWARDS LOL

It was on the God of War soundtrack, that title is intentional...

Is it wrong that I only just now got that?  :|

No, but it is wrong to admit it. Just do what I do, nod slowly  in agreement and back out of the thread....

Maybe there'll be a North American leg in the fall before they come to Europe?

cyberdrummer

I think that's unlikely, dates would have been announced/leaked before Europe.

wasteland

Yeah, it's very unlikely. But still it's not completely impossible for a November US leg to happen.

TheGreatPretender

For all we know, they're just announcing these dates first because they managed to book them in advance. Either way, doesn't matter to me. As long as they come to Toronto, (which I don't see why they wouldn't) I don't care when it happens. Actually, the later the better, gives me time to save up.

Tomislav95

I just hope they'll finally come to Croatia next year :-\

I have a feeling that they will touch the Balkans this time. It would be a logical path through southern Europe: Portugal > Spain > Italy > Austria/Hungary > Croatia/Serbia > Greece > Turkey > (maybe) Israel.

I wish, but it doesn't seem likely. Really want to see a headlining show in Greece and not just them being part of a festival or something.

Elements of Persuasion released three months before Octavarium, and people leaked tracks from it under the pretence that they were new Dream Theater songs, with the chorus to The Root of All Evil going "CRUCIFYYYYYYYYY."

The new one, which is being released shortly before any new DT material, is called Agony. So everyone'll be going "Oh, Reap the Harvest leaked. It goes, AGONYYYYYYYYY!!"

According to Wikipedia, Mike Portnoy leaked the tracks relabeled as 8VM.

Confusion with Elements of Persuasion

Octavarium and James LaBrie's solo album Elements of Persuasion were both released in 2005 with fans awaiting both of them. When Ocavarium was leaked, Mike Portnoy took songs from Elements of Persuasion and put them onto the internet under the name "Octavarium". This lead to confusion among fans and many awkward situations such as a DJ playing the incorrect song at a wedding. Even this day, some fans are unaware that they have the wrong internet files.[22]

Sounds like a dick move if it's true.. but whatever.

Kotowboy

I can't imagine MP doing anything like that :neverusethis:

Nothing in the last two years would suggest that MP would do anything other than honourable !

?

Who's gonna spread songs from James' new solo album as DT tracks on the Internet now that MP is gone? :neverusethis:

That's why I always buy DT CD's and not download the music.  There were fake versions of 6DOIT songs going around before its release too.
