Mmmmmmmmmmm.

When JP's hair was shorter, he made 6DOIT and ToT, two of my least favorite DT albums from a guitar standpoint.

Then he grew his hair back out and rolled off Systematic Chaos, Black Clouds, and A Dramatic Turn of Events, which are all fantastic guitar albums.

So no.

So, I guess it has a sort of 'Samson effect' on his guitar playing, then.

At least I think he should cut the beard. I don't think it suits him. The long hair is alright I guess, but from a man-point-of-view, I think he looked better with short hair as well, unless we're talking Images & Words / Awake age. His hair was awesome back then.

I just browsed a bunch of Petrucci pics to get to this, and when I'm looking at pictures with shorter hair/no beard, it just feels like a little less Petrucci. This is really his signature look.

Absolutely. Short hair looks better on guys in general, and it certainly does on JP as well based on the Budokan look. Long hair makes men look shabby, while women look really hot with it.
