I like it, it's very interesting. A nice break from the last 2 albums, and it's what I wanted: Open, colorful, and not cluttered. Kinda like Octavarium.

Scooterfruit

It's definitely grown on me. It's not their best but it's not horrible either.

A small bit of consolation for anyone that doesn't like it: hey, nothing could be worse than WDADU's cover. ;)

Haha, my thoughts exactly

FretMuppet

I like it a lot

Fuck y'all, I love it. It's very "A Change of Seasons" feeling.

hacko

I like the concept, but it does feel a bit like some people here posted better quality stuff.

Also, no nuggets!  :rollin

I always liked the WDADU cover.
This is piss-poor though. It's not very metal and certainly not very Roadrunner. It's very 70s prog.
I agree the fan-made covers are better.
I initially thought it was a single cover and maybe it is,, but it fits with the album title as well as this track.

Dr. DTVT

I don't mind the lack of nuggets, I like the brightness of it...but the execution of it just isn't there.  Like someone said, it looks like low-end fan art.  That, and between the Supertramp and Circus Maximus covers...it just feels wrong.

Mad props though if that's an intentional Airplane! riff though.

this is why alot of people like it

everything doesnt need to be 'metal'

DarkLord_Lalinc

Couldn't care less, as long as the music is great.

but it will be marketted at the Metal market. At least if they want to sell any.

smerfak

But is it really official cover?
I don't like it much, even though it reminds me of ACOS cover which is one of my favorites. I don't know, something is missing there to me.

Anyway

the ultimate nugget would be to have an older version of the I&W girl balancing on the rope with the picture frame still in her hand. i'd love that

Nugget: The Full Airplane has all the different symbols that have characterized each one of DT's albums (Burning Heart, Awake's Mirror, ToT's eye...)

I don't know why some people think it is art for the single. If it was for the single it would say, On the backs of angels instead of A dramtic turn of events

Yeah, thought about this too.

Dublagent66

Well, at least it'll be consistent with the title.  Let's hope the music saves it from itself.

rumborak

The cover is pretty bad. In combination with the title, yeah, errm.

Orion1967

A picture is worth a thousand words so I offer:

Orion1967

...additionally I thought that some of the DTF people made 1000% better cover art.

I liked the one with the nuke reactors and the front end loader bucket in the foreground

The Ugliest Unicorn

Reminds me of Take That's 'Circus' album art and Mcdonald's mascot Ronald Mcdonald. Not a fan in other words.

Like the sky, like the minimalism, love the deep blue, don't like the clown, Majesty logo looks photoshopped on - and of course it was photoshopped, but it looks it. Don't like the tightrope hanging in mid-air. Very Syme. Very silly.

Not too enchanted with Hugh Syme as late. His style's a little too "Look at me, I'm a metaphor!" It's clever, but its laid on with a trowel. It's perfectly serviceable, and there's plenty of cool stuff - the colour scheme in particular - but it's a little bit "blah."

If I'm honest, it looks like a magazine advert. Like it should be selling you timeshare.

IdoSC

I tend to appreciate it when bands like DT don't use dark themes and colors in their album covers.

Design-wise, it looks pretty good to me.

lonestar

If I was concerned about covers, I would have never listened to I&W.

Should have been a pic of a broken condom.

I actually kinda like it.  But I would think Roadrunner would have announced they are revealing the cover art if this was the cover art.  So I'm not sure.  However, I don't get why the plane isn't a little blurry.  If it's flying in the air, it would be going extremely fast and would be a blur.  The way it is now, it looks like it's sitting in the clouds.

I also think it would be cooler if it was something instead of a clown, like... an angel maybe?  Or a child?

pogoowner

I don't like it at all. But they've never had good album covers.

wolfking

I think it's a fine cover, very refreshing.

Mebert78

Here's an idea.  Maybe it's artwork from the inside of the album or the back cover.  I gotta think they would announce it's the cover art if that's what it was.

Super Dude

Anything is better than that I&W/Awake/BC&SL-style shit.
:superdude:

Mr. Beale

The colors are refreshing, but it looks a little too simple for a DT cover, and the unicyclist seems kind of stereotypically prog, maybe I just have Circus Maximus on the brain. I wouldn't say it's bad though.

sonatafanica

the cover is so bad that it made me laugh when i saw it  :lol

the song was okay though.

chrisbDTM

in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter what the cover looks like?

cover =/= music
