Artisan is the most useless thing in the world.

At least they seem to have dropped I Walk Beside You in favour of Wither  :lol

SO.... Did anybody at the Aniland's fake Album/Tracklist thread actually got at least one title right?

Yep. On the second page, somebody got "Outcry" and "Lost Not Forgotten". Pretty fucking incredible if you ask me.

I just double-checked for the heck of it, and don't see either one?

I made it up.
Ah, so that's what you mean by "incredible". :-)

I think the new album is going to be 4:57-5:08 of Lie, on repeat for 80 minutes.  And the artwork will be Louie Anderson on a Jackhammer with oldschool headphones on.
I listened to the loop for like two minutes and I thought I'd explode. But listening to Constant Motion, I get where you're coming from. Nothing against CM though.

Well there wasn't anything in that email that said that was the top part of the album art, looks more like a quickly thrown together graphic for promotional purposes.
Yes. People, please. This was definitely put together in 10 minutes in MS Paint because they didn't get the album art on time.

What's to talk about the release date?  :lol

Aniland

Yeah, I too have no idea what you could possibly want out of discussion of that. Okay, so it comes in three months. Now what?

Weren't we supposed to hear something else today?

what i was trying to say before, was that i think the release date was the new info

Aniland

I think they just made an idiot mistake by saying to check back for more info.

RaiseTheKnife

Title is rather uninspired.

Dream Theater albums are staggered like Star Trek movies, so far as it seems that every other one is good.  So if I do my math correctly . . .  TOT (meh), Octavarium (awesome), SC (meh), RC&SL (terrific), and so forth.

BTW, great Mangini article in May issue of Drumhead magazine.  Talks about the writing /recording process for the new album.  Very LOOOONG interview.  Might be old news here, but still worth sharing.

Is the interview posted online, or do you have to subscribe to the mag to read it?

I'm thinking of creating a new thread for fan-made artwork so as to keep this thread for real updates. What do people think? Am happy to move the relevant posts from this thread into that one.

UPDATE: All the recent posts with fanmade art have been moved here: https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=23734.0 :)

IronEarthTheater

Good idea for a dedicated thread.  I for one love seeing the fan art and what people come up with...

I'm indifferent to the album title. After seeing it alongside the other album titles in the past day, it really doesn't seem that out of place or bad, to be honest. It's just different.

The titles seems awesome, though, and I'm really looking forward to Lost Not Forgotten + Outcry. Seems like they are going to be full of emotion.

Aniland

I like how no one has called us all out for only associating the bottom two tracks with one another since they both start with B.

Probably in the UK since it's a Monday.

I live in the US and every album that has come out in the last year or so, has come out on Mondays (or been available Mondays). It used to be Tuesdays, but music and movies have been coming out on Mondays

Looking through different forums, especially MP's (no offense intended at all), it just gets annoying reading people saying how they hope the new album doesn't mention MP at all or that the whole situation isn't mentioned.

Why should this be a topic to be avoided? Why can't DT bring it up? It's a way to cope with it by releasing it through an artistic way. Why can't DT express it?

Aniland

I hope one of the new songs has the word 'microphone', but LaBrie leaves a giant pause between the first syllable and the rest of the word.

They should just cover Master Exploder.

there should be a choir going "mike portnoy" for 10 minutes straight on DT11 to get it over with. all the haters will have something talk about, all the lovers do to......sigh

it's obvious what the title is about.
the tracks however is a different story, but sitll might be connected.
i think the album WILL, or even better SHOULD have a song about the break up, as this is the most dramatic change in DT history. so it would be very strange if DT would not mention it at all. This is 33% of the orginal DT not being in DT anymore, hell yeah they should wirte about it.

I dont mind which track it is (title wise)...but what I am curious about is....what will be the atmosphere/style of the track, will it be very metalish, or will it be very smooth, clean and lovely...and if they acutally use his name or an alias......and than the biggest question to me about this is, who will have written the lyrics?!?!

This is a great question and I personally would think that they would all have some kind of lyrical involvement in that particular song. And i hope its smooth, clean and lovely song as i think it would best convey the "heartbreaking" and "disappointing" feelings that Petrucci has mentioned in interviews.

Well since James last solo album shouldn't be MIKE!           ...rooooooooooophone".

Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford leaving their respective bands was MUCH bigger than this, and neither band wrote a song about it. That kind of melodrama isn't necessary, simple as that. However, I will say that at least it gives DT an emotional topic to write about rather than Freemasons.
