let's let the disappointment roll

Just in case, I'd like everyone to know that is NOT the actual album cover.

"On The Backs of Angels" sounds awesome. "The Shaman's Trance" reminds me a lot of Liquid Tension Experiment (I think It'll be an instrumental), and I can't think of "Build Me Up, Break Me Down" without thinking of Megadeth's "A Secret Place" (For no particular reason).

This should be great. Also I don't see the reason of the titles hate, they sound a lot more inspired than what we got on BC&SL.

That Megadeth song is great, but how can you not think of "NEVER GONNA BUILD ME UP, NEVER GONNA BREAK ME DOWN?"

Love the title, love the track names. It seems more free-spirited, judging by the titles.

TL

For the album title; I don't really have a strong initial reaction one way or the other. It's not an amazing title, but it's alright.

On the other hand, a lot of the track titles sound interesting. Especially because a lot of them don't sound like typical Dream Theater titles. I'm pretty excited right now.

Also, I'm calling it; The Shaman's Trance will be an instrumental.

zxlkho

The title is pretty bad, but the track titles are alright I guess.

Still not buying it unless the vinyl is cheap.

I was the first to call it, broski.

Yes, but to be fair, I didn't read your post.

On another note, if you count scenes instead of tracks on SFAM, this continues the whole symmetrical track numbers thing counting outward from Octavarium.

LCArenas

SO.... Did anybody at the Aniland's fake Album/Tracklist thread got at least one title right?

Yep. On the second page, somebody got "Outcry" and "Lost Not Forgotten". Pretty fucking incredible if you ask me.

HOLY $#!T... You're right!

8   8   11   11   9   6   7   8   7   6   9

Whoa...It would be freakier if a couple of the tracks on ADTOE had movements, making the total number of songs/movements equal 12 (meaning one song might have 4 movements, for example).

Unintentional or not, this is pretty funny. Guess we'll see if DT12 and DT13 have 11 tracks on them, and then DT14 and DT15 with 8 tracks each.

-Marc.

Aniland

Then DT16 pulls a Guided By Voices and has 26 tracks. Yep.

Or it's an EP effort with 6 tracks.

The album title is bleh but the song titles sound awesome! except for track 2, which will probably be the worst song.

Aniland

Jaffa

Because of track 2, I maintain a vague hope that Dreamtheater.net will feauture an elaborate Rickroll tomorrow.

D_Halco

That Shaman's Trance cover is the most serendipitous thing I've seen in my life, and I once saw a Unicorn that farted skittles.

TL

So, what are the odds that we get an album cover and a single tomorrow? Or at least an announcement of a single?

Aniland

I don't expect a single tomorrow.
But if we get a single tomorrow I will need to buy a new chair.

Scooterfruit

We will not get a single tomorrow. The album only JUST started to get mixed this week. No way we could have a song done and out there already.

fadetoblackdude7

We're most likely gonna get the cover art tomorrow, seeing as how the cover for Heritage was released a day or 2 after the title/tracklisting......and they're both on the same label and they both come out in September.

abydos

I really like how the song titles sound, it's refreshing and dare I say "creative" when compared to the last 3 albums. I never thought I'd say this but I'm getting a bit excited for DT again, which is a nice surprise for me.
If James' vocals are what they weren't in the last 3 albums, this may be really amazing.
Also, I think Shaman's could be an instrumental.

RG93

The album title isn't that bad, just not suitable for an album title.
The track titles are great ,although I thought they were Symphony X tracks at first.  :lol

wolfking

I actually find the song titles something more in the vein of James Labrie's solo offerings, than DT.  If we are getting 9 songs which are overall shorter in length, I'll be happy.

I think that's why I like them so much

Pols Voice

I don't really like the title, but I'm glad there are 9 tracks instead of 6 or 7.

SystematicThought

I think for some it's because it has MP written all over it and it's definately not something you'd expect
