I could care less about the theme in relation to the song title - which is what we are talking about here.

Two separate things dude.

what? the song title should reflect the theme...unless i'm on crack.

Let's be honest here, you totally are on crack.

(For the record I'm just joking, I don't mean any offense. :P)

why i outta...   :rollin

i can keep going if you want me to.

You completely missed what I was saying... you claimed that the album title is not a reference to Portnoy leaving, however I proceeded to say that it obviously was, although not an explicit reference, and that the fact that it isn't necessarily a direct reference doesn't make it less of a reference.

I LOVE the album title, it's pretty epic. Beneath the Surface sounds pretty cool too.

Just IMO, of course. And, as a gesture of goodwill, here is my awful attempt for you to - quite rightly - rip the living shite out of.

DREAM THEATER - The Truth
1. The Speed of Light
2. Lock and Key
3. One of the Family
4. Under the Surface
5. Spiralling
6. Surgical Gloves
7. The Sandstorm
Soooooo close!

I really hope that they'd use a real artist this time, so no Photoshop pieces with cut and past of free pics. Everyone with at least some eye and extra time can make good things with that toy, but I'd prefer a real oil-painting.

Hey now, Hugh Syme is a great album artist.  Just look at all the great stuff he did for Rush!  And Octavarium!  Blame BC&SL's album art on Portnoy's vision to go back to a more I&W/Awake-looking album.

Yeah, with you on this. BCSL's artwork's kinda ugly. Chaos in Motion directly before, however, is gorgeous.

There is a tendency though, in Hugh Syme's work, that you can see the working out. Shadows not quite matching and identikit textures. I like Hugh Syme - love his work, in fact - but I'm ready for a change.

Then why do you think it has anything to do with porn?

https://dictionary.reference.com/browse/erotomania "abnormally strong or persistent sexual desire."

Not saying I associate the song with porn, but the definition of the word itself is pretty easily connected to porn.

That definition is not accurate.

Quote from: wiki
Erotomania is a type of delusion in which the affected person believes that another person, usually a stranger or famous person, is in love with him or her. The illness often occurs during psychosis, especially in patients with schizophrenia or bipolar mania.[1]

<snip>

During an erotomanic episode, the patient believes that a "secret admirer" is declaring his or her affection to the patient, often by special glances, signals, telepathy, or messages through the media. Usually the patient then returns the perceived affection by means of letters, phone calls, gifts, and visits to the unwitting recipient. Even though these advances are unexpected and unwanted, any denial of affection by the object of this delusional love is dismissed by the patient as a ploy to conceal the forbidden love from the rest of the world.[2]

The definition you quoted seems to have fallen prey to this:

QuoteThe term erotomania is often confused with "obsessive love", obsession with unrequited love, or hypersexuality (see nymphomania). Obsessive love is not erotomania by definition.

Coincidentally, I just saw an episode of Criminal Minds that dealt with erotomania last night.

No problem.  To be honest, I didn't know the meaning either, until I had read it in the DTFAQ back in the 90s.

Anyone posting information about album leaks, including offering leaked material or asking for leaked material, will be banned.  No exceptions.  Depending on the seriousness of the offense, you will either be banned permanently, or at the very least, until release date.

James, you've been around at least two album release cycles.  There is no excuse for you not knowing that what you posted is against the rules.  Last warning on that subject.

I know I am going to sound like a broken record here but I think the album title sounds so bland and uncreative. It's not horrible or anything, it's just... You know? It's just... Meh.

But then again I am the original unseasoned fan.

1. On the Backs of Angels - Oh my god is that a song title.  This better be a great song or it's a huge waste of a name.

This.

----------

I'm going to be honest: I really think this is going to be a concept album. The song titles seem to suggest that the concept will be something spiritual. The obvious ones are On the Backs of Angels and Far from Heaven, but we also have references to life (This is the Life), death (Lost Not Forgotten), spiritualism (The Shaman's Trance), and perhaps even hell (Beneath the Surface). I fully expect people to disagree, but I'm just raising this as a possibility.

I fully agree.  The track titles roughly follow what would happen or would be felt by the band members as they went through MP leaving and the aftermath.

predator13

This is the Life sounds like a groovy tune.

Also,

9 divided by 3 is 3.

Put two 3s together (one mirror image 3) and you get 8, 8 + 3 = 11...this is DTs 11th album and comes out in the 11th year of 2011.  2 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 4...4 - 3 =1, this album will go #1 in the world.  And 3 x 2 = 6, the number of band members (including MP) DT had in 2010.  2 + 0 + 1 + 0 = 3.

3.

SO.... Did anybody at the Aniland's fake Album/Tracklist thread actually got at least one title right?

Yep. On the second page, somebody got "Outcry" and "Lost Not Forgotten". Pretty fucking incredible if you ask me.

I just double-checked for the heck of it, and don't see either one?

Outcry sounds like something you'd find on a JP solo album. It sounds very abstract.

I totally see where you are coming from. Honestly, if the album was like FII, then I would still be happy as I think it gets too much flak, some killer songs on FII (ToT, HK etc)

I thought that myself but then I got a vibe of JP/JLB solo work.

I'm hoping ONBOA and BTS is very strong ones. I mean as the opener and closer they should be one would think.
