Oh man, what if "The Shaman's Trance" ends up being the one track Myung wrote?  And what if it happens to suck?  We're never going to want him to write again!  :rollin :rollin
He never sucks

Super Dude

But nuggetz!!  Oh!  Or they could make the release 09/10/11. ;)

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the previous pages but if you're worried about the song titles being bad - see 'Erotomania'

Awful title - mind blowing music - so who cares what they're called right.

What's "awful" about Erotomania?

Seriously?

Yes.  I don't get where you're coming from at all on that one.  It fits in perfectly with the AMBI concept.

Anybody heard or seen any comments from MP about this? I just checked his forum but nothing yet. Maybe he'll keep a low profile on this.

Initially, I agreed with Jaffa's post a couple pages back where he called the album title a cliche phrase.  I'm also not a fan of unoriginal cliche phrases either.  But I can let it slide since DT has used a cliche phrase as an album title almost all the time from "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" to "Train of Thought," etc.

What bothers me the most about the title is that instead of focusing on their new beginning as band, the album title forces them to deal with the aura of Portnoy through the album release, tour, etc.  It begs more Portnoy questions in every interview too.  They should have took a more subtle approach with the title.  I think it's a poor choice.

Yeah I doubt MP will comment on this - if he's learnt his lesson from the last few months, that is.

September 13th.  I'll take it!

They should've made the release date 11/11/11.  For teh nuggetz.

Nooo, that would mean two more months to wait.

I can't believe I'm gonna do this but:

9+13+11 does in fact equal 11+11+11

Anyway, I think the title is cool, track listing is cool...bring it on!!!
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

It fits in perfectly with a low budget porno.

I hate the name - if you like it, good for you.

I was purely trying to illustrate that the song title has no bearing to the music.

Yeah, don't really care for the album title. At all. Some of the song titles are really interesting however.

And of course, they're all just titles. *shrug*

I honestly don't care what it's called, I just want the music.

...But I actually happen to like the title and track names..

So a song's name is more important than its theme or message?  :|

well i have been checking the forum a little throughout the day since I saw the announcement on Blabbermouth.

I dont know about the title and tracklisting titles.....i somehow lost track of DT titles after 6DOIT. i doint know why.
but none of the titles on this one are something i would remember in a blink of an eye, because of the name i guess... there's no WOW factor in those for me....
The names sound ...i dont know rock to me, a little too much Bon jovi-ish to me.

But than again, what's a title? as MP said with 8V dont judge a book by it's cover. and I also will not do so.
The music is what counts and the name pfff...it's just because they have to give it a name...but if they would have call it DT11, track 1  track 2 and so on..that would be ok for me too.

so now we have the album title, the track titles...next up.... the length of each track!??! i dont see no threads about it :P :metal

rumborak

I like the song titles so far. The album name, wtf.

I could care less about the theme in relation to the song title - which is what we are talking about here.

Two separate things dude.

So far, I'm loving the titles, "On the Backs of Angels" sounds like something straight out of When Dream and Day Unite...

Oh, and their new tour should be called....

At first I thought it was the joke album title thread that had been "stickied", and lol :lol alot, but when I read on I saw it was true. Like others have said before me, a very unusual and blunt album name. Dunno about the song titles, but I get I'll get used to them, like when 8V, SC and BC&SL was new to me.

Anyway, rock on! 13 september can't get here fast enough (if thats the release date, its one day before my BD)  :metal

I had a late night last night (about 2am) Jon wakes me up at about 8:30am with a phone call telling me about the DT news. Needless to say, I couldn't get back to sleep.

Also, Shaman's Trance automatically makes me think of a damn fine psychedelic instrumental.

I didn't read through the entire thread, but people are actually making a big deal about the album name and/or the song titles

all that matters is that the music is great, who really cares what they call it

THEY'RE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS - A THEME OR SUBJECT CAN BE INTERESTING/COMPELLING/PROVOKING BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE SONG TITLE(S) ARE AUTOMATICALLY GOOD.

OH MY GOD SOME PEOPLE ON HERE JUST LIKE DISAGREE, NICK PICK OR TAKE EVERYTHING OUT OF CONTEXT.
