I find it funny they used the words " Welcome to the family" because they were used by avenged sevenfold to welcome MP in the band.

Yeah, I also thought this was ironic. Although I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

Kinda funny that Mangini equated being chosen to being drafted in the NFL draft, since the draft is today!

Mike departs and Myung gets all chatty (as per his standards) in the documentary: wonder if it was some kind of subliminal fear of MP that kept JM quiet all these years ;D Here's hoping JM graces the next album with some more wonderful lyrics/music.

And MM's reaction on getting 'it' is just brilliant!

I'm extremely happy!!!
I was hoping for this to happen since the second the news of MP leaving the band broke. Not only is he one of the greatest drummers in the world, he's also a hell of a guy. I met him several times, he was always friendly and hilarious.
Welcome! :)

Welcome Mike Mangini!!  I'm glad it's finally over, but I have to say that Marco Minneman and Peter Wildoer picked up a new fan this week.  Those guys are awesome and I wish them both the best of luck!!!

SystematicThought

Oddly enough too, we haven't broken the record for most people online. MP's departure still takes the cake on that

His reaction is the exact reason why I think he's the perfect dude.  You can tell just how much this means to him.  I am so impressed with him thus far, and I cannot wait to hear his playing on the new album.

WELCOME MIKE!!!! :metal

Congrats, Mike!   :metal

Is Mr. Mangini the new full-time drummer in DT?  Or is he just here for awhile?

Not fear, but I do think MP had an iron grip on most creativity in the band. John Myung seems really excited, and this can ONLY be a good thing

chrisbDTM

i really hope mangini was in the studio at some point during the writing process

Yeah, so, can we just stop with that rumor, please?  There's never been anything to remotely suggest any such thing.  And it doesn't belong in this thread anyway.

Can I make of itchy for not even knowing that prepositions like "on" are supposed to be capitalized in song titles when they are the first or last word? :P :lol

Does anyone know if Mangini has a singing voice? Not that I thought Mike was great  ;) but he did do quite a bit that would need to be duplicated.

I understand why they picked Mike, he had that desire and really really wanted it.

Congrats and will be here waiting for the new album.

I'm happy with Magnini, even though I wanted Minnemann.

Mangini is a perfect fit, he fits like a glove.
