I doubt it.  His audience is much larger than DT fanboys.

It wouldn't hurt though.  Don't forget it got his name on music news sites for a day or 2, and got at least us to talk about him still, and now we all know he has a book as well, something I definitely wouldn't have known if he hadn't tweeted about Mangini.  Sure its not a huge boost in sales, but any publicity helps.

Expect Eddie is more well known than DT and it's not like he's tweeting about Metallica.  That would help sell his book.

No I didnt read every post in thread. I thought DT should be able, along with road runner, to release the name of the new drummer when they decided it was the right time, for whatever reason. Its not a conspiracy theory I dont believe. If anyone other than Trunk released it prematurely I think I would be OK with it. I mean just about anyone other than MPs friends or family.

I stop by this site almost daily with hopes of an announcement, a leak, a sighting, something. Just didnt expect it to go down like it did. I didnt think it would be leaked by a good friend of MP and it was a bit of a let down actually if true. For those who understand where Im coming from thanks and those who have bashed, whatever.

Mangini wasnt my first choice as a 20 year DT Fan, but after youtubing him a bit more I think if its him he will do very well. He is a Stud Drummer and the more the more I watch him the more excited I get. If hes not better than MP hes pretty close. If he can learn to interact with the fans as well as MP did, DT wont miss a beat.

I feel like DT would rather quash that rumour with an official announcement, as a group, rather than have Mangini do so.

How would MP know the new DT drummer? I wouldn't trust anyone but my other band members with something so "top secret", especially not a revenge-thirsty, newly-departed Mike Portnoy! He might spread a rumour JUST to spite the band and cause a stir!
And would Eddie Trunk REALLY leak a rumour that he *knows* would probably hurt the band, because they've been trying to keep it secret so long, for whatever reason? I would think anyone would be better than that!

I don't think the leak came from MP. I do however believe that ET does have reliable sources as he mentioned. He knows a lot of people in the business. And I'm sure there are a lot of people who know who the drummer is. It was only a matter of time. They were successful at keeping the secret during the writing process, but once the drummer is in the studio it would become much more difficult. And Mangini hasn't come out and denied it. There is a ring of truth to all of this. Funny about Eddie's twit pics of him and MP though today. Nothing like unintentionally fanning the rumor flames once again.  He's so wrapped up in his new book, I don't think he even knows what he's doing.

Violet, there are people who post on this forum who already know who the new drummer is, as they, like myself, work in the film and music business.  It is part of our daily routine to be aware of things in the entertainment world that have not yet been made publicly known.

I'm sure MP knows the new drummer as it is part of an ongoing legal entanglement.   My hunch is that Eddie Trunk also knew a while back.
