I can assure you, it isn't bosk2.  He can barely get his homework done and his room cleaned.  There's no way I'm letting him go out on tour with DT.  Yet...

And let Dad record all the bass parts for the new album?! :lol

Is that what happened? Holy shit, didn't even know! :lol

Well there are rumors online so I'm not saying it's true but Eddie has played bass on songs.  The 3 songs with Sammy on the greatest hits.  Humans Beings.  It's well known that Eddie's been gunning for Michael Anthony for a long time.  Read Sammy's recent book to see the crap Ed pulled on MA.

BTW, for a second I thought: "WTF, Eddie Trunk played bass on Van Halen albums?!!". Then I realized there's two people called Eddie in this thread. :lol

I think he also played a lot of the bass parts on III (the Cherone record) and even some on Balance.  EVH is a dick.

Anyway back to Mangini.....if 3 of my favourite guitarists of all time - Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt & now JP, think that he's good enough to drum with them, well then that's just fine with me.

Good point.

Good point actually. There's nothing to complain about the drums on Waiting For The Punchline.

Mike did only play on 3 songs,  "Hip Today", "Leave Me Alone" and "No Respect" which were all great but what he added to the older songs live was unbelievable.

I don't expect there to be any bad blood.  MP is good friends with MM.
Then everything would be somewhat of a big Metropolis Part II, with MP being the Sleeper, MM being the Miracle and DT being Victoria?

how dare you?

I'll admit, it was a grower for me, and it's very different from Pornograffiti and III Sides, but WFTP was a fantastic album, and I will physically assault any man, woman, or child who dares to say otherwise after listening to it at least 5 times.

Listened to it many times trying to like it but it's awful. The instrumental is the only track I would ever want to hear again. Better take my coat off...

For those who haven't seen this, Mangini performing this Vai masterpiece may give a good idea on how he will fit into DT.

That does it for me a lot more then anything else I've seen from him.

Does anyone here know what Mangini's played on specifically that's recorded.  I know he's on two Vai albums, but I don't know what songs.  Beyond that, I'm not quite sure what all he's done.

Here's a list of albums from his site, but nothing stating which specific tracks (I know someone posted something in another thread, for example, stating that he only recorded some of the tracks on Waiting For The Punchline):

[Official Mangini discography]

Ah.  Thank you.

Is there anything that breaks it down by song though?

EDIT:  In order to contribute something: https://www.myspace.com/tojonline/music

A few songs he played on for a band called Tribe of Judah.  Neat industrial/techno/metal.

Nothing I could find in a quick search that laid it out.  (went to wikipedia first, obviously, but his page isn't that detailed)
