Silly - their newest lyrics since 8vm.

Under A Glass Moon sounds pretty happy to me.  Not so much lyrically, but I find it lightens my mood sometimes.

But that's just me.

Can't believe no one has said this

Love - Home

I always felt Home was moreso about desire.

Honestly for happy though the first thing I think of is the WHAAIM ALIVE AGAIN part of About To Crash Reprise.

I agree.
But I think "Home" fits under the happy category as well.

Sadness: Space Dye Vest, Disappear, Endless Sacrifice, Sacrificed Sons, The Best of Times, TMOLS
Regret: Repentance, Honor Thy Father(?)
Anger: As I Am, ITPOE (I & II), Honor Thy Father, Never Enough
Hope: The Spirit Carries On, Another Day, Learning to Live
Hopelessness: Misunderstood, Peruvian Skies, Never Enough

And I'm too lazy to continue.

DT is seriously lacking a silly song. Like Rush's "I think I'm going bald" or Genesis' "Counting out time".

I find Dance of Eternity to be pretty silly, but I don't think they really meant it to be...

This! About to Crash (reprise) is the happiest piece of music I've ever heard. Even the lyrics kinda suit it. "I'm alive again!!!"

A thread about emotion? I can't not reply to this one. The only issue is that DT songs make me feel many emotions, not one kind in particular. I'll try to explain as best I can.

The Killing Hand, TOWHTSTS, Only a matter of time - These three songs make me feel almost the same way, but Only A Matter Of Time probably makes me feel it the most. The biggest thing is the dreamyness of the production and the sound of the instruments, namely the guitar and keys. They blend together in such a way that it lifts me up and takes me somewhere else. It goes far beyond the standards of simple music composition, and manages to become something completely new and compelling and divine. The album is 22+ years old but It is and always be my favorite DT album and one of my favorite albums altogether. I can totally understand how some people think the sound is cheap and low budget, but for me it is the total opposite. It's intensely atmospheric, spacey, unique and amazing. To this day I am still surprised that Dream Theater were able to create something so great in the very beginning of their careers. To sum it up, these songs make me completely forget about life and remember all those life changing lucid dreams I had when I was younger.

Octavarium - My favorite song of all time, From the first time I heard it. The tune itself has, IMO, the best composing in any DT track. A brilliant mix of a calm steadily rising first quarter, solid Floyd-ish vocals throughout most of it, absolutely A+ musicianship from all 4 guys, and a finishing guitar solo that is easily my favorite solo ever. It makes me feel really good inside and seems to give me motivation every time I listen to it. A few years ago I used to listen to this song on most nights right before sleep. Almost every time I would have an intensely vivid and lucid dream. I experienced wonderful things that are impossible in waking life and felt emotions that are far too complicated to try to describe on a forum. The best explanation I can give is a mix of strong joy, completeness, and satisfaction. Maybe I've gone too far into this but anyone who's paid any attention to my posts can figure out that I'm an emotional person, and this thread is about emotion sooo..

These Walls - renewed sense of moving forward/progression.

Pull Me Under - reminds me a little bit of WDADU, mainly because of the keyboards after the second chorus. Makes me feel like I should be doing more to better myself and my situation.

A Change Of Seasons - Phew, so much feeling and heart in this song. Possibly my second favorite DT song behind 8VM. I guess I enjoy the epics a bit too much :lol. What really grabs me is the versitility of the band. JP switches between distorted and clean/acoustic tones throughout, and never sounds samey or unmotivated. The overall sound of the song effectively captures and conveys the message of the lyrics. It makes me feel appreciative that both of my parents are still here on this earth, and it makes me grateful for what I have.

I'm about done. Sometimes I wonder if I should even write on this forum. I always go way too far into the subject and it ends up being overkill. Nobody REALLY cares about one random person's deep emotions.

I'm shocked! but thanks, lol. While I'm here I'll post another couple...

Wither - The lyrics can seem a bit depressing but this song actually makes me feel happier, especially during the great but short guitar solo. It has an uplifting quality to it.

ANTR - I rarely pay attention to song lyrics more then the music but this one comes close because it tells a story and tells it well. It really pulls me in to the mood of the words and the music. The intro is the perfect "calm-before-the-storm" kind of beginning, the more aggressive moments represent the chaos and confusion of the story and the Beautiful Agony section is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Also, the awesome solo-lead JR does over guitar chords and double bass at a certain part of the song gives me shivers every time. This song makes me appreciate what I have, a bit like ACOS.
