haters gonna hate, but "You Not Me" isn't as bad as most people make it seem. The original version is superior but the version that ended up on the album isn't really that bad.

This. I blame snobbery for the YNM hate.

I blame the terrible lyrics and music.  You Or Me is significantly better, still not a great song though by any means.

I do love FII though.  Definitely in the top half of DT's albums.

Not even the incredible atmospheric section after the second chorus?

Wow, I'm just a few hours away from hearing SDV live.  This is a historical day.  I couldn't be happier right now.

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I always found that bit with the descending echoey keys and double bass drumming quite atmospheric ^^ I guess it doesn't sound that good since its only a demo, but it would have made YNM better if it was kept in. I enjoy it nonetheless

Ben_Jamin

That's the thing with the demos. If they were polished people would definately enjoy them more.

The Letter M

"You Or Me" from the "Hollow Years" Single sounds pretty polished to me... or perhaps my hearing is just off, but it sounds tons better than the Demos found on the FII Demos.

Also, the B-Sides on Cleaning Out The Closet sound polished compared to their counterparts on the FII Demos as well.

Is there any substantial proof that they were cleaned up and better produced for those respective releases?

If your wife could have a really steady pulse and not do useless and random zooms to JR and JLB faces it would be sweet. Enjoy the concert! I'M SO JEALOUS!

Here now. Waiting for doors to open.

Well according to the back of the DTIFC case, the credits for the album say the following: Mastered by Doug Oberkircher

And according to the FII Demos, the tracks on the YtseJamRecords release were mastered by Bob Sackter, so there's at least a difference in mastering, which definitely explains the difference in sound quality. To me, it sounds like they're just the straight demos from the board they recorded, and the COTC tracks were mastered properly for release, so as to sound more polished than their former selves. I think the only reason MP released the Demos as they were on FII Demos was to distinguish them from the exclusive Fan Club disc.

Ah, I thought they'd play something from SI. Though, I thought they'd do "Euphoric". Also thought they'd do the piano version of "Wither". Cool, thanks.  :)

Bob mastered the Ytse Jam demo, not the "Cleaning Out the Closet" CD.  There is a definite difference in sound.
