Damn, that sucks. I mean, it's no major personal blow as I wasn't going to any of the shows, but I feel bad for the other fans.
The work visas thing doesn't surprise me. A lot of artists have been running into issues with them, although it's easy to read into it and think there's something else there involving the drummer situation. We shall have to see how things unfold.

What's a work visa?

It is like a pass that allows you into certain countries allowing you to work, earn money etc for a short period of time as opposed to just holidays etc.

Pretty ordinary explanation but in a nut shell thats about it i think.

Man he hasn't taken his shirt off since Awake, huh?  At least he isn't as chubby as he used to be.  Took some tips from JP, methinks.

LCArenas

ZOMFG HE HAS A MAJESTY SYMBOL TATOO WILL HE ERASE IT NOW HOW WILL HE OLOLOLOL

But yeah, surprisingly he doesn't look chubby or something like that.

Birch Boy

I know you're kidding, but I don't think he would want to erase it even if he could. It literally represented twenty-five years of his life, and I doubt he'd want to remove that symbolism from him, even if he could.

EDIT: Even if he could.

LCArenas

Well there's no doubt about that, but I was just kidding...

Avenged Sevenfold's pyrotechnics must be a little too close to his drum kit.

Back to CJS's cancellation of the SI tour :

[SPECULATION MODE]

I'm assuming the problem is with Peter Wildoer? The rest of the guys did the EoP tour (except the bassist, but he's American, so that should not be a problem), so no visa problem there. Peter is Swedish just like PoS, and didn't the guys have a visa problem as well to play in the US? What i'm hinting at is this : if the visa problem is with Peter, will the guys in DT run the risk to have him as their new drummer? I guess not. So, that would rule him out obviously. Just my two cents, though.

[/SPECULATION MODE]

Don't know if I've been clear on this one. :-\

It's very likely Peter is the cause, yes. Don't USA have very strict rules when entering the country as a foreigner? Perhaps some of the americans in here can answer that better than me. :P

However, it has nothing to do with PoS - they simply refused to leave their fingerprints at custom, which was (and still is?) standard procedure.

Oh, OK. Thanks for the clarification about PoS. Didn't know the exact issue.

ROASTING MIKE PORTNOY'S MARSHMELLOWS ON AN OPEN FIRE

Wow, Christmas will never be the same.

Oh how the long winter evenings will fly.....  ::)

Lowdz

First thing I thought was that PW didn't get the gig and threw his dummy out of the pram (don't know anything about he guy so don't know if he's that kind of guy or not). The other option, that he got the gig and they want to do some shows, didn't occur to me but could be. Or maybe it's as CJS says it is. How we love those conspiraacy theories.
I'm not excited at the thought of PW... please be one of the exciting guys!

For someone who didn't read this entire thread -- do we know who actually auditioned for it?

nikostheater

No.Lots of speculations though.

EPICVIEW

I hear Zombie Portnoy is the clear choice

STEVETHEATER has given told us that it's Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, Peter Wildoer, Mike Mangini, and Marco Minnemann were five out of the seven.  Charlie Zeleny was also confirmed to have NOT auditioned.

Who is Stevetheater? Should we take this with any weight or is it more speculation?

I'd be happy with any of the above other than Peter W, purely because I beleive MP's replacement should be a giant in the drumming world!

Ħ

I don't really know, but I guess he is connected with some insider info and is really respected here.

He does some work for the band from time to time, but doesn't have regular direct contact with them.  I would say his info is more than just fan speculation, but I wouldn't take it as gospel either.  He made it clear that while his source is credible, the information did not come directly from the band.

TAC

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for an announcement! :D

Let's just say, if asked, I'm sure he would rejoin DTF in a heartbeat.  Just not now.

TAC

Certainly not after the audition of 7 world class, but unnamed mods!
