I'd almost wanna do this but I could probably only do a Top 20-25 and would prefer to have a dedicated thread.
It's all about you.  ::)

What's up with being a sour puss?  In a thread like this, after a while, with so many people doing them, it tends to get lost in the shuffle.  In fact, if the guy doing his list right now didn't have his name in the title, I would have no idea who is doing the current list.  At this point, I am looking at just the songs.

Well I was just poking fun, but I do agree. Personalized thread is the way to go. That was the way for me! And btw, if you didn't know already, you were the one to inspire me to make a top 50, lol.

Well the point is it wouldn't be fair, cause I made a dedicated thread and it got merged with this one, that's why this one it's the "official".

Plasmastrike

Yeah, no reason to have another thread. This is the dedicated thread I guess. It's one person at a time.

PS. The theme that's called "Pick Your Color DTF" allows you to just click a thread and it automatically pops you to the last post you saw rather than navigating to it. Real handy.

orcus116

I do last post all the time. My point was that someone could've started their list in the middle of page 6 or something. How the hell would people know that? They'd have to flip through pages and scroll just to find where a list starts.

Well in a lot of the threads in GMD they have something like "...'s Top 50 starts page 6". So we could do that.

Is it too hard to just scroll down? Mouses these days have scroll wheels, so you don't have to click the scroll bar and drag it down or something. Besides, when you find a fragment of the list (like Top 35 to 30), you already have an idea how much the list progressed.

No but I don't see the big deal of wanting something organized. I mean the way it is now is you have like 5 songs, then 7 posts of random discussion, then 5 more songs, then 11 posts of random discussion, etc. It's sloppy as hell. This thread is already 16 pages long so you'd have to slog through page after page to find the start of someones list.

I propose we have a first post with something like:

"User"'s Top 50

[ url="link to post"]"User"'s 50-46[/ url]
[ url="link to post"]"User"'s 45-41[/ url]
...
etc

Orcus does have a point. I've seen other lists been done on other forums like the way he has suggested. And it seems to work.

We're at the Top 10. 3 at a time, now.
10. Blind Faith
I underestimated this song for so long. Then one time I just listened, and it blew me away. This is a great song. The lyrics are great. It has some pretty memorable vocal melodies. The chorus is powerful. And the guitar solo is pretty different sounding for Petrucci, but it's definitely a great one and quite fun to listen to. Amazing song!
9. Finally Free
And this is how you close a concept album. I really don't know how to explain this song well. It has a great chorus. Wraps everything in the album up very efficiently. Portnoy has insane drumming in the outro. And the very end is quite effective. What a way to close that masterpiece.
8. Under A Glass Moon
Yes, this is my favourite song on I&W. I do think the guitar solo is insanely overrated, but the rest of the song is just great. The riffs are great. I love how insane the instruments go in the chorus, which I always thought intensified it. LaBrie sounds IMO the best he does on the entire album (besides in Learning to Live). I also really like the intro. Great song.

Nice to see Blind Faith in someone else's top 10. :tup

UAGM solo is not overrated, it is perfecto.

It never really struck me as anything special for Petrucci. I mean when you compare it to solos such as Octavarium, A Change Of Seasons, and Goodnight Kiss...

orcus116

Whaaat? That solo is infinitely more interesting and original than the Octavarium and Goodnight Kiss ones.

Well I don't know, I've just never seen much in it. Just me I guess.  :P

Perfect amount of bendings and shreding, yep it's great. And it's not wanky.

This.  UAGM guitar solo is unbelievably awesome.

It's cool...and fun to see, nothing special or memorable about it otherwise

You just described all the solos on Train of Thought.

I couldn't hum or whistle a single solo from that album if you had a gun to my head.

Silver Tears

I honestly couldn't pick between the UAGM, Octavarium and Goodnight Kiss solos, they're all special to me in their own way.  :D

BRGM

Maybe I'll find UAGM solo more interesting if I listen more to the song, cuz the only thing I remember from it now is "under a glassmooon light" and "Buy a peeeen, I won't WAAANk un!, Baby sauna in my, naaame"
