That's cool for A7X fans, I just wish it wasn't the case as Portnoy would then most likely use that time towards something I would enjoy more.

I doubt you'll like them but City of Evil is a good place to start. Just don't go any further back because I'm pretty sure you don't like screaming or anything.

Neat.  Good for him, and good for them.

These.

Exactly. While I too am not into A7X's music, MP's touring with them will help get his name out further to younger audiences, which in turn could be what introduces them to DT's music and increases their popularity even more.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

im surprised theres no whining in this thread. i think its a great thing that MP is doing this and it cant hurt. DT was gonna take the summer off anyway, and they got on the IM tour so its not like its taking away from DT

I don't really care much about these things, good for him I say. The only thing I am worried about is that MP as of late has affiliated himself with music I don't care much about. And given how he seems to have a strong say in DT's musical direction, I'm afraid it doesn't bode well for my future enjoyment of DT's output.

Is it actually confirmed that he is playing with them?
All the link says is that "from what i hear"

Mike confirmed it on his Facebook fan page and said that he will not be the permanent drummer because Dream Theater is "his baby". He also said that he will need to resume work on a Dream Theater album sometime in 2011.

Good for Mike. I hope they pay him a boatload of money (I'm sure they will, being such a popular young made that appeals to the wallets of high school kids). Guy clearly never gets tired it seems. I have little to no interest outside of watching some you tube clips of them playing a cover of Walk or Something.

PlaysLikeMyung

This is great for the Avenged Sevenfold fans

I'd much rather Mike work on something DT related, like a new album, or a new Liquid Tension, or maybe even a project with John Myung (how epic would THAT be?). Maybe gathering some material for a new YJR release... He's spending a lot of time touring right now and I'd like for him to take a bit of a rest so that the next DT album will be absolutely KILLER

El Barto

Just listened to a couple of videos and don't care much for them.  I guess my preference would be for him to put together another side project group.  LTE and TA have both been great.  The worlds full of people he could be jamming well with.

This is great news (and I barely even listen to A7X anymore), to hell with anyone who thinks otherwise :tup

Good for MP and A7X fans.  Don't care that much, but just like finishing the album with them, its a cool thing for him to do.  So glad there's no complaining like the last thread

Well, aside for my burning hatred for the majority of A7X fans, I am going to see to it that I go to this show. Not just because of MP though. I have been wanting to see A7X live at least once. And this is just an added bonus (one fucking hell of a bonus).

EDIT: Fuck, I'm already skeptical about going after seeing the god awful list of bands playing with A7X on this so called Uproar Festival. Ugh.

I remember I saw A7X once a while back. I had never heard their music before, but my friends were huge fans. I remember being extremely impressed with their stage presence. They really got the GNR vibe going on well, and they REALLY knew how to present themselves.

I love A7X and Disturbed, hope it does come to the UK.

edit: It would be interesting is A7X did any DT covers :p

AcidLameLTE

I was just scanning through the tour dates and saw: "Birmingham" and for a second thought: "BIRMINGHAM?! THAT MEANS THERE COULD BE MORE UK DATES" and then I looked closer :sadpanda:
