One night is Parasomnia plus a selection of "hits" and deep cuts, the other night is the 12 step suite plus a different selection of songs. That way everyone is happy... right?
Sometimes I think you only think up scenarios that will never ever happen lol

Go big or go home, that's my motto.

I spend a lot of time at home.  :lol

Them doing the 12SS in its entirety would be awesome (mostly so they're forced to play TGP and TDS again, honestly). But I'll echo some sentiments in saying that I don't think this would be the right tour to do it if they're also doing all of Parasomnia. One issue I'd have with that I haven't seen brought up yet is that it's a whole two sets where you already know exactly what they're going to play. I like to go in blind to shows and have there be at least some surprises.

Quote from: Mosh on March 26, 2025, 11:38:42 AMEdit: If they do play the 12SS as a one off, I hope they advertise it in advance so that people who want to hear it live can try and make it out and people who don't can skip it.

I was going to post this exact thought this morning. I agree.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

As long as they're clear - from the time tickets are put on sale - about which one is which.

I'd be thrilled with two great nights of the best prog metal there is! :tup

That sounds better than the coin flip idea I was thinking of, where even the band wouldn't know which set they'd be playing on the first night.

Mosh

At a certain point in DT's history, the scenario durga2112 is describing would be possible, maybe not a whole tour of it but definitely some one off two night stands sprinkled throughout a tour. Some of the Setlist choices this time around make me think it's still possible now.

I've seen DT four times. Once in 2007, twice in 2009 and once in 2025. The show last month was so good I'd be ok if I never see them again.

That said if they want to come nearby on a weekend again with a whole new set, I'd be well up for it. Since they're already planning to do Parasomnia in full, what else would I like to see...

Fatal Tragedy
Take the Time
Breaking all Illusions
About to Crash
Count of Tuscany (already saw it in 2009 but why not)
Change of Seasons

I wonder if it'll be another evening with or if there'll be a support or two. Bring BTBAM or Blood Incantation or someone and I'll be so down.

They're playing with Mastodon and Haken this summer in Greece. I think that would be a great lineup!..if no Evening With.

EPIC Outro

Here is my set for the Parasomnia leg of the tour! I wanted to include the albums not represented on the 40th Anniversary part of the tour, some tributes, and a rarity. I also threw in the added songs from the North American 40th anniversary leg so they can be on the Blu-ray too

Set 1:

Parasomnia

Set 2:

False Awakening Suite
The Enemy Inside
The Great Debate
To Live Forever (Charlie tribute)
YTSE Jam
Moment of Betrayel
A Rite of Passage
Invisible Monster
The Dark Eternal Night

Encore

The Best of Times (Mike's dad tribute)
In the Name of God

If they haven't done a Charlie tribute at this point, I don't think they're going to. And by the time the Parasomnia tour starts it'll be nearly 2 years since he passed. It would certainly make more sense to do that on the band's 40th anniversary tour than a tour for an album he had nothing to do with.

After the first set of Parasomnia in full, I would love for them to play the 12-step suite in the second set and then a different Portnoy-era epic that's different then Octavarium (Though Octavarium was breathtaking to witness live.)

Congrats on picking a bunch of songs I really don't care for  :lol

DragonAttack

'The Glass Prison' would be an epic start after the intermission.

'Ytse Jam' with a short MP solo would be nice.

'Misunderstood' is long overdue. The best mood lighting I've seen them do on stage, followed by the blast of white lights when the song changes gears. :tup

'Breaking All Illusions' was the highest ranked MM-era song here.  'Fall Into The Light' or 'At Wit's End' would be another good MM-era song to add.

Throw in a few short change of pace tunes...similar to 'Surrounded', 'Solitary Shell', or something from 8vm.

I'd gladly take 'Razor's Edge' to close out the set.  Sadly, I don't see them bringing back the album title track in full.

Encore:  We got 'A Change Of Seasons' a few years back.  Perhaps 'Wait For Sleep' and 'Learning To Live'.

I have zero desire for the 12SS.  I'd put up with 'The Shattered Fortress' if necessary.

Oh, and please...make the video screens smaller. MP's standing up and egging the fans on was difficult to see.  Use some spotlights from the balcony.  When MP was acknowledged, they used white lights behind him for his bows. Also very difficult to see the band 'playing' (though SoC was a visual delight!).

Quote from: JiM-Xtreme on March 26, 2025, 04:49:55 AMMuch as I'm sure there are people who may not be calling for it, I feel there is a strong possibility that we are going to get 12SS as Set 1, followed by Parasomnia, then an encore consisting of a couple of oldies such as 6:00, Take the Time, that weren't covered on the most recent cycle.

There was an interview a while back when MP confirmed the 12SS remains on his bucket list to perform with DT, and if it doesn't happen on this second cycle off the back of what is essentially a "greatest hits" tour - realistically, will there ever be a better opportunity?

I had a strong feeling this was always the plan but now they have just pulled out TBoT, I'm even more convinced MP will be looking to tick this off the list and have no doubt the other members will fully support it given the success of this most recent tour.

Count me in the group of fans who think that 12SS is way overkill for the Parasomnia tour.

I don't remember exactly which interview, but it seems like they're still considering whether to play Parasomnia in its entirety at just a few shows or the entire tour. For some reason, I think if they choose to play Parasomnia in full on the entire tour that will increase the chances to play the 12 Step suite in full too. Kind of all or nothing situation.

devieira73

Personally, I wish they would play all of Parasomnia in rotation, in a more varied repertoire, with one song from the Mangini era never played live before (with Mangini).

Skeever

I think it's highly unlikely we'll get Parasomnia + a 0 turnover set.
But what I'd like to see, what I'll consider a "realistic" dream to get at least a few of the below...

-The Best of Times continues on in the encore spot. I've seen the one performance, but I'd love to see it again, especially with more rehearsal from JP.
-Pale Blue Dot - one of my favorite Mangini songs, and I'm hopeful I'll get to see it one day.
-All the big Myung songs - Learning to Live, Trial of Tears, Breaking All Illusions - are still on my bingo card, and I'd be willing to see literally anything on the current setlist go if meant getting one of them
-A Change of Seasons. This is the last big major DT song I need to see, but I doubt I ever will get to see it. And hmm... maybe asking MP to do ACOS and TBOT in the same set would be a little too much...

devieira73

No doubt, keep TBOT, please! :tup

Echoing the Gnome, I DEFINITELY want to hear

Out of Reach
Wither

and

Forsaken

These are bucket list songs for me.

Additionally, I would love to hear

These Walls

Outcry

and for them to please consider bringing back

Breaking All Illusions

and

Answering the Call

Adding that anything from the self titled album would be a welcome addition, too.

Yes, yes, yes, and I would switch out Viper King for

Untethered Angel

or

Fall Into the Light ✨

The impossible is never out of reach

Viper King would have been and would be a blast!  I'd like to think they could have a lot of fun with it.

Quote from: MirrorMask on March 26, 2025, 05:12:52 AM...but the entire premise of the suite was that it was a major, gigantic single song that could have been played all together

No, they wrote it as a suite (which you said), and not as a "gigantic single song."  Those are not the same things.  Not sure where you are getting that from.

This would be a cool one. I am doubtful it'll ever be played (talk about a deep cut!) but I would be all for it. Bridges in the Sky has been done a few times before but I love that song and hope it is not dead. I think BITS could also be a really good song for MP to play.
