Even better if they only did this setlist on Christmas Day.

I would LOVE to hear this one again! 😍
The impossible is never out of reach

Trial of Tears
Ytse Jam
In the Name of God
Misunderstood
Glass Prison - I'd be cool with the entire 12-step suite, but I could see it being too much if they are playing the entirety of Parasomnia throughout the tour.
Forsaken
Peruvian Skies

At this point, I'm not crazy about a good chunk of the show being all of Parasomnia.  Hoping it grows on me some more over the next several months.

My wish for the Parasomnia tour? That they announce the dates soon.

mariner

Set 1:  Parasomnia

Set 2:  The 12-step suite

Encore:  Space-Dye Vest - MP hasn't done it since Kevin Moore left the band.  The band brought it out a few years ago - now let's hear it with MP behind the drum kit!

When will be the first date of the Parasomnia Tour?

They're playing what I think are mostly festival dates in Europe from June 3 through July 29.  Since I believe the RCMH show was the last date of the 40th anniversary tour, I assume those will be the first dates of the Parasomnia tour.

They have two U.S. festival dates on September 19 and October 3, and they announced from the stage that the U.S. Parasomnia dates will be in the fall, but nothing else has been announced.

You can wish for whatever, but I don't see what difference it would make having MP, versus MM, play that particular song.  However, MP's statement of record about playing the song live is as follows:  "We definitely would never play [Space-Dye Vest] live without Kevin in the band.  It was totally 100% his song and had we known he was about to quit the band, we wouldn't have even put it on our album."  No reason to think anything has changed in this regard.

Quote from: DragonAttack on March 27, 2025, 08:37:53 AMI'd gladly take 'Razor's Edge' to close out the set.  Sadly, I don't see them bringing back the album title track in full.

You do realize they've played it in full on the 40th anniversary tour, right? Why would they do it on the next tour when they literally just played it in full on the tour that ended a week ago?

Here's my wishlist:

Set 1: Parasomnia
Set 2:
Ytse Jam
Glass Prison
Learning to Live
Outcry
A Nightmare to Remember
Encore:
A Change of Seasons

Set 2 can rotate, and other songs can include:
On the Backs of Angels
This Dying Soul
Constant Motion
Pull Me Under
Take the Time
Lie
Erotomania
Voices
The Silent Man
Another Day

I tend to agree with those who said that the 3 hours of "balls and chunk" set with Parasomnia and the 12SS would be akin to getting run over by a train. At the same time, is interesting that nothing from SDOIT was played on the 40th Anny tour. I think there's a great chance we'll at least get The Glass Prison this fall. I would really like to see them do:

Parasomnia
---
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
A Change of Seasons
---
The Glass Prison

I dunno! Seems fun.

he's said that in the past, but given the recent changes in the band, maybe he'd re-evaluate this too? it'd be fun to see his live interpretation of one of the band's greatest songs - the 2014 arrangement was great but i feel like portnoy would do it differently. tbh, i wish he'd not only play it but add backing vocals...!

That's exactly what I think.

Space Dye Vest was fun the first time and was a treat on that tour, but I don't see the point in playing it again.

My wishlist for Parasomnia is they go hard on rotating songs for the non-album set. Now that they've done a big greatest hits set I want to see them pull out crazy deep cuts and surprises throughout the tour.

durga2112

I think it's borderline criminal that "Transcending Time" hasn't been played yet. The end of that song is just begging for an audience singalong. And now that Portnoy is back in the band, I bet he'd be able to egg the crowd on to sing along - imagine, James does a "Traaaaaaanscending time", holds the mic out, and Portnoy is up on his feet "conducting" the audience to repeat the line. Then he makes an "I can't hear you" gesture - repeat that a few more times and the crowd would tear the roof off the place. I think it'd be a lot of fun, anyway, so that song will be on my wishlist until they finally play it.  :)

bosk1

I mean, it's...fine.  But it's the least good song on the album.  If they were going to pick something from that album to play, there are a lot better choices.

NoFred

To me their biggest skip of the MM era is how too little too late they played At Wit's End. Bringing that back would be nice.

Anyway while I have my classics wishlist for the Parasomnia tour, I'm most looking forward to The Shadow Man Incident live, it's got all the parts to be a fantastic performance - killer intro, killer chorus, killer instrumentals.

Thierry

Would love to hear In The Name Of God, Outcry or Lost Not Forgotten.

I doubt enough people in the audience would know the song well enough to sing along, but it would be cool to hear live for the first time!

Starting from June 3rd 2025, I hope it will be the beginning of the Parasomnia Tour. I hope that "Parasomnia" will be played in its entirety ; for the rest, I don't know. In festivals, the band won't be the time to play something else that the new album, because the time will be probably from one hour and a half. I hope that in the future, the "Parasomnia Tour" will propose some concerts in open places, with a longest setlist. I don't know if it will be on this tour, but I hope that one day, the band will play the 12 steps suite, with Mike Portnoy.

Mladen

My assumption is that none of the summer shows will feature Parasomnia in full. They're probably saving that for yet another European leg, presumably in early 2026. The summer shows will be pretty similar to what we've seen so far, with maybe a song or two being added.

I'm also confident some of the shows will be identical to the anniversary set, especially the evening with concerts where Dream Theater hasn't performed in last autumn.

At both the LA and NYC shows, JLB said they'd be back in the fall playing Parasomnia in full.

Architeuthis

Set 1 - Random setlist with a few gems that haven't been played in a while. Such as Behind The Veil, The Bigger Picture, S2N, TROAE, etc.

Set 2 - Parasomnia

Encore - ITPOE PT1,  The Path That Divides.

If I understand you well, the real beginning of the Parasomnia Tour will start after the European summer festivals part?

Mladen

That's exactly what I'm thinking and pg1067 has it right as well. The European summer shows will have sets similar to the anniversary tour, then the official Parasomnia tour will kick off in the autumn in the USA, and then Europe will also get it in the beginning of 2026. Possibly followed by Parasomnia shows in Asia / Australia. Oh, and maybe they will return to South America with the Parasomnia shows at some point next year as well.

To be clear: none of us know for sure.

Hef is correct, that goes without saying. These are just my assumptions as stated in the first post. Maybe noxon knows, but he wouldn't wanna spill the beans.  ;)

One thing is for sure whatever the setlist looks like on paper it's going to be a different animal live.

I saw them in Vegas, Boston, and NYC, so I do realize what they played. And that's why I know they won't bring the title track back.

But I would still love to hear 'Razor's Edge' every night.  Always have, always will. That's why I listed it in MY wish list. Along with 'Overture 1928 / Strange Déjà Vu', I would be overjoyed if all three were performed at every show I attended in the future.  And, yes, I know the latter two were also performed. There were highlights aplenty at their concerts, but those moments topped them all...for me.

For what it's worth, the shirt that I bought has dates going all the way to the end of July listed on the back as "40th Anniversary". I'd be pretty surprised if they made any big changes to the setlist before those dates are finished. Maybe another few rotating spots in the set like they did for the North American tour, but I wouldn't expect more than that.

KevShmev

Has anyone wondered about the possibility that maybe the band has a second new album dropping later this year and that the tour later this year will feature both Parasomnia and that new next album both in full?  You never know.  It could explain why it took them much longer than expected to release just Parasomnia.

durga2112

"But they were, all of them, deceived, for another album was made."

Oh man, that would be WILD!

FWIW, the Red Hot Chili Peppers did that a couple of years ago.
